Nerve Lab. Experimental Sports Support Buildings by @studio10design In Zhangzhou, this experimental sports complex reimagines the relationship between performance, recovery, and research within a unified architectural language. Conceived as a series of interconnected support buildings, the project integrates training, rehabilitation, and scientific analysis into a cohesive spatial experience that responds to both athletes and landscape. The design emphasizes adaptability and sensory engagement—lightweight structural systems, translucent envelopes, and open circulation paths create an environment that is both dynamic and controlled. Interiors are organized as flexible modules, allowing seamless transitions between high-intensity training zones, recovery spaces, and data-driven labs, while maintaining clarity and flow. Material expression—steel frames, tensile elements, and soft surfaces—balances durability with comfort, reflecting the duality of strength and precision inherent in sports science. Set within the island context, the buildings are dispersed yet connected, encouraging movement across open spaces and blurring boundaries between indoor and outdoor activity. Minimal intervention in the landscape preserves the natural character of the site, while pathways and nodes foster interaction, rest, and observation. The project explores how architecture can actively support human performance while remaining deeply attuned to its environment. 📍 Zhangzhou 📷 Photography: Chao Zhang #sportsarchitecture #experimentaldesign #performancespace #architecture #modernarchitecture #architecturaldesign #sportslab #researcharchitecture #adaptivearchitecture #lightweightstructures #designinnovation #architecturedetails #inspirationalarchitecture #urbanlandscape #architecturephotography #designlovers #materials #structuraldesign

We are honored that the Yangbei Village Elderly Day-Care Center has received both the Merit Award in Architecture and the Sustainable Design Award for the AIA Hong Kong Annual Honors & Awards. Located in Ruyuan, this project revitalizes rural life by blending ethnic heritage with modern community needs. Concrete canopies create shaded “gray spaces” for gatherings, while local materials and passive design strategies ensure sustainability. The AIA Hong Kong Annual Honors & Awards recognize outstanding achievements by members across architecture, interior design, urban design, and unbuilt projects. The wall dividing private rooms from the public area evokes the softness of gently billowing curtains, tying back to the leather and sheer curtain elements. A slight lift in this “curtain” wall reveals an interior mirror, while the corner opening naturally leads guests to more private, fully-enclosed consultation rooms. Holiday Greetings from Team Studio 10. In the new year, may good health and good fortune be with you! The Tree of Time is an acrylic assembly calendar designed in-house by the Studio 10 team. Its “trunk” and “leaves” are cut and engraved from acrylic in varying transparencies and hues. Each leaf features etched calendar details and doubles as a desktop organizer—perfect for holding small items or hanging earrings, keys, and other everyday essentials through its circular cutouts. Arrange the leaves however you like: mix, match, and build freely. Over time, your tree will grow organically into a truly personal, one-of-a-kind Tree of Time. Assembly Instructions for the Tree of Time Step 1: Insert the “tree trunk” into the base. Step 2: Randomly insert the “large leaves” engraved with calendars into the “tree trunk”. Step 3: Insert the “small leaves” onto the “large leaves”. Step 4: You’re now all set! The leaves can be used to hold small items, and the circular holes are perfect for hanging earrings. #calenderdesign #trinkettray #acrylic #holidaycard #calender Photos by Studio 10
