Sense of Self Brief | 🔍 Textile Analysis & Photography 3/3 - This brief was about exploring our identity/sense of self through printmaking. I wanted to explore why I don’t feel fully comfortable wearing traditional Habesha clothing — so I began with analysing the patterns, tactile nature and symbolism in the traditional textiles! ‘Tibeb’ patterns (the traditional intricate pattern work) are more than just decorative elements; they are a visual language that tell stories of identity, heritage, and community. The patterns served as a means of communication, conveying messages about social status, marital status, and regional identity. The iconic tibeb pattern, featuring diamond-shaped motifs, represents unity and community bonds – a reminder of our core social values. The zigzag pattern, known locally as ‘gebete-lemat,’ represents life’s journey and the mountains of Ethiopia. And finally the spiral motif, symbolizing continuous growth and evolution. These 3 core symbolisms were key motifs throughout my journey on this project as I developed! . . . . Thank you to my wonderful model @m4r4k1.xo 🫶 @csmgraphics . . . One Shot Wonder | Using one continuous shot, re-create a commonly used digital special effect, without any post production, except sound. Our given effect was “making a cup of tea in zero gravity”.

A Solar Powered Promise 🌒- The Final Animation!!! Sound on!! 🔊🔊 Rostrums were closed so it's a little shaky...but hopeuflly I'll be back with a round 2 soon :) CONCEPT 🌟 A teacher, A promise, and a memory that will never be forgotten. This kinetic typography film depicts the heart-warming story of Mr Moriarty, a teacher who hosted an eclipse party for his students 50 years after he made the original promise! I used light and shadow to reflect the solar eclipse theme and emphasized the ideas of routine, growth, reunion and keeping promises over time through looping. The text paths throughout mimic solar trajectories. BRIEF 🌟 Create a 30 second kinetic typography piece depicting the core message of a ‘feel-good’ news article.
