What happens when you design seating objects in just 3 hours?
Last week I led a workshop together with @lamy_global at the @kunstpalast
Processes like this are usually taught over an entire semester — here, everything had to happen in a much shorter time.
From quick sketches, spatial models emerged.
From lines, seating objects took shape.
It was fascinating to see how quickly a shared understanding develops once ideas are built rather than discussed.
Especially in a time where so much is digital — and increasingly shaped by AI — working with the hand creates a different kind of clarity. Ideas become tangible, testable, and open for discussion.
That’s what interests me most:
seeing design not just as an outcome, but as a way of thinking.

Cut Light, light object, made from reclaimed materials.
The object was developed from a predefined set of upcycled materials and explores the direct juxtaposition of two contrasting material qualities.
Its linear construction follows a reduced and precise formal language, allowing light to articulate edges, surfaces, and material boundaries.
By keeping the materials clearly legible, Cut Light translates material constraints into a clear and readable spatial expression and was presented as part of an exhibition bye @bauwendehof

Die Architektur aus verzinktem Wellblech wirkt auf den ersten Blick kühl, klar und industriell.
Durch die Wellenstruktur entsteht jedoch eine Dynamik, die Licht, Schatten und Bewegung in den Raum bringt. Die Oberfläche ist streng und lebendig zugleich.
Im Kontrast dazu stehen die warmen, natürlich wirkenden Oberflächen von @valchromat_official , aus denen auch die Objektschilder gefertigt sind.
Sie brechen die industrielle Härte und schaffen eine materielle Balance zwischen Präzision und Atmosphäre.
Die Podeste sind teilweise drehend gelagert und bewegen sich eigenständig.
Diese langsame Rotation verleiht dem Stand eine subtile Lebendigkeit und verändert stetig Blickachsen, Perspektiven und Bezüge zwischen den Arbeiten.
Ergänzt wird die Struktur durch Dachelemente, die zukünftig mit Licht ausgestattet werden sollen.
Sie markieren einzelne Bereiche, erzeugen architektonische Hierarchien und verstärken den Eindruck eines gebauten Stadtraums.
Die Architektur lässt jeder Arbeit ihr eigenes „Gebäude“.
Einige Podeste greifen bewusst Referenzen aus der Architektur auf — Anklänge an Balkone, Brücken oder vertikale Türme werden lesbar und geben den Objekten eine eigene Adresse im Raum.
Der Stand versteht sich als abstrahierte Stadtlandschaft und als räumliche Übersetzung von Düsseldorf:
klar, strukturiert, selbstbewusst — mit einer industriellen Prägung und gleichzeitiger Offenheit für Bewegung und Wandel.
In der Fragmentierung, den Volumenverschiebungen und der skulpturalen Wirkung lassen sich zudem Parallelen zur ikonischen Architektur im Düsseldorfer MedienHafen erkennen — eine gebaute Dynamik zwischen Ordnung und Irritation.
Ein temporäres urbanes Gefüge.
Präzise komponiert, offen für Interpretation.

The stand translates the architecture of Düsseldorf into a spatial concept.
Sculptural, modular volumes made of galvanized corrugated steel form an open landscape of individual islands, shaping the space with a strong graphic presence.
The design is clean and clearly structured, yet deliberately eye-catching.
The corrugated material creates rhythm, depth, and an industrial tension that clearly sets the stand apart within the exhibition context.

Each work is placed on its own island, given space to unfold, while remaining part of a cohesive system.
This creates a balance between diversity, order, and coherence.
The stand functions as a temporary urban fragment from Düsseldorf —
precise, confident, and intentionally composed.

Ein großes Dankeschön an Lukas @studio.mudio und Jimu @jimukobayashi von @typeoclock für diese tolle Zusammenarbeit.
Es hat unglaublich viel Spaß gemacht, dieses Projekt gemeinsam umzusetzen.
Für die Kollektion habe ich drei Motive entwickelt – drei Wege, mit der Zeit umzugehen.
Ich bin sicher, jeder findet das Motiv, das gerade passt:
etwas mehr Kontrolle, etwas mehr Gelassenheit oder einfach die Hoffnung, dass alles sich mit der Zeit ordnet. ✨

Chair, made from rescued material offcuts
The chair was developed from a predefined set of reclaimed materials.
Its design follows a clear formal language characterized by large radii and continuous curves.
The seat elements are deliberately separated from the structural frame. This distinction is emphasized through physical distance, contrasting color, and differentiated form, allowing the seat to appear as an independent component rather than an integrated surface.
The construction makes the relationship between frame and seat explicit, translating material constraints into a clear and legible design expression.
