❮New Exhibition❯ Poetry of Metal: A Moment Held in Eternity A Solo Exhibition by Studio Foh opens opens Thursday, April 23. Forms that seem to tremble lightly—yet remain. Delicate lines, shaped in metal, hold a quiet sense of endurance. Foh’s work does not seek to replicate nature, but to honor what it has undergone. Bent grasses, weathered leaves, and fleeting moments are translated into forms that carry both fragility and resilience. This exhibition introduces new works inspired by California native plants that bloom after fire. Emerging from heat and ash, these forms reflect nature’s quiet persistence—and the possibility of renewal that follows loss. Studio Ko

Today marks 8 years since I started @studio.ko From launching the website in 2018, to hosting small pop-ups, and opening my first physical space almost a year ago… it’s been a slow and steady journey. I still run everything on my own, but none of this would have been possible without the support of our customers, artists, and everyone who has been following along the way. Because of you, I’ve been able to do what I love, and create opportunities for Korean artists to share their work here in Los Angeles, far from home. Over the past year, we’ve held 6 exhibitions through Studio Kō and @gallerykoen , and there’s so much more ahead. Thank you for being part of this journey. Until the day Korean craft and artistry are more widely seen and appreciated. 화이팅🤍

As ❮Poetry of Metal❯ comes to a close, I keep returning to the feeling that this exhibition was never only about metal. It felt closer to a way of living. To walking every morning, observing nature closely, noticing small changes over time, and slowly carrying those moments into a material that endures. And like the fire followers that bloom after devastation, the exhibition also carried a message about continuing on — about resilience, recovery, and the strength to bloom again after hardship. More than objects, it feels as though Studio Foh shared with us a way of seeing and moving through the world with greater attention, care, and gratitude. Thank you @studio_foh and to everyone who spent time with ❮Poetry of Metal❯.🙏

❮Poetry of Metal❯ enters its final week. If you haven’t had a chance to visit yet, I hope you’ll come experience the exhibition in person. Spending time with Studio Foh’s work has made me think more deeply about what gives handmade objects their lasting presence. Her work is not only about form, but about years of walking through forests, paying attention to small things in nature, and slowly translating those experiences into metal. Maybe this is why her work feels warm despite the material itself. What we encounter is not just an object, but a way of seeing and moving through the world. At a time when images and aesthetics move so quickly, this exhibition reminded me that what stays with us is often not only the visible outcome, but the time, care, and lived experience held within it. One of the most memorable things Foh shared during our interview was that freshly cast metal is surprisingly soft and delicate at first — almost like fresh grass. Only after passing through many stages does it gradually become stronger. In a way, it feels similar to nature, and maybe to us too. What is fragile does not remain fragile forever. Through time and experience, we slowly grow stronger. 👉Read full interview: www.studioko.la Studio Ko

❮Poetry of Metal❯ by Studio Foh continues this week. Every morning, the artist begins the day with a walk through the forest surrounding her studio. A small stream runs just outside the door, and the moment she steps outside, the walk begins. Rather than searching for perfect forms, Foh finds herself drawn to dried leaves marked by veins, branches bent by wind, and traces left behind by insects and time. These quiet encounters slowly become part of her work. Through metal, she preserves not only the forms of nature, but also the feeling of having spent time closely observing them. Studio Ko

❮Poetry of Metal❯ by Studio Foh continues this week. Open today, 12–4 🤍 Once so difficult to refine, aluminum was considered more valuable than gold. Napoleon III is said to have reserved aluminum tableware for himself, while his guests were served with gold. It was also used for crowns, tableware, and even royal objects—valued above both gold and silver at the time.

❮Poetry of Metal❯ by Studio Foh is on view through May 16. As I was preparing this exhibition, I came across something new—Dau(다우, Tea Friend). A small companion placed on a tea tray—“da” (tea) + “u” (friend)—a quiet presence that accompanies the ritual of tea. Sometimes tea is poured over it, slowly changing its surface over time. Studio Foh’s Slug and Silkworm exist as both objects and dau—something you don’t need, but find yourself wanting nearby. Studio Ko

Studio Foh’s ❮Poetry of Metal❯ opens tomorrow. “To move a fleeting moment of nature into the enduring material of metal.” When I first encountered Foh’s work, I felt something that seemed to contradict the material itself. Metal, which I had always thought of as cold, carried an unexpected warmth. Perhaps it is because the artist’s sensibility has been fully absorbed into this material. I hope that those who visit the exhibition may feel this warmth as well. Studio Ko
