Welcome to The Suite, the series where I’ll be designing my very first hotel suite.
From the furniture to the minibar curation to the turndown service & amenities, you can expect a 360 look into all the decisions I make, the process that follows.
Most of you know that I want to creatively direct my own hotel one day, so I thought why not rent a space and transform it into what I’d want a suite in my hotel to look like.
So whilst this space might not actually be within a hotel, it’s the first step in showing you what a hotel by me could look like.
So on that note, I can’t wait to start the series, reveal the suite and bring you along, for what is going to be a fun journey, as I design my very first hotel suite ☺️ #thesuiteseries
Btw this series will be here, but long form videos will be on YouTube & all the details and commentary will be on my brand new Substack, “the suite series”.
So I happened to be in the neighbourhood for a work trip and so naturally had to stop by the @amanrosaalpina — though I didn’t stay there, I spent around 8 hours there, so here are my top line thoughts..
- It’s the 8th Aman I’ve visited and I’m wondering if it might have the best service so far? Truly it was incredible.
- Between the screening rooms, the multi-floor spa, restaurant concepts and lounge spaces, it’s an incredibly impressive alpine resort.
- Food was so good, truly I’d go back just for the food and I never feel this way about anywhere 😅
All the staff kept saying I need to come back in the summer, so I’m hoping to experience The Dolomites & this incredible @aman property once again but in the 🌞
Bistro Sable.
Simple, French, Cute. It’s a nice spot, that’s new to islington and is super cosy. Would be perfect for a date night.
Food is uncomplicated and won’t blow you away with the flavours etc; that said if I go back, I’d try the beef bourguignon or onion soup as maybe those rich dishes would be brimming with flavour.
tea at Jackie’s ~ Jaqueline at @thechanceryrosewood .
• A sculptural ‘pain au chocolat’ inspired by Kew Gardens that has both dark & milk chocolate and is served with a chocolate mousse. — £18
• A dessert from the flower collection, that seems to change seasonally. — £18
It’s definitely in the premium side of things price & setting wise but it all looks like literal pieces of art and the vibe is classy, chic and calm, which I personally love.
@1hotels — Copenhagen, Denmark
I recently stayed at @1hotelcopenhagen and I can easily say it’s one of the best hotels in the city. Nature filled, calming and understated, very much in line with the typical 1 Hotel aesthetic. There’s incredible amount of huge trees and open spaces, means you really feel like you can breathe easy.
Comfort
One of THE most comfortable beds I’ve slept on, in Copenhagen. Soft mattress, great pillows, and the ability to properly control the room temperature made coming back at the end of the busy @cphfw days, a dream.
Design
The hotel has an almost atrium-like feel with so many access points for natural light and an incredible amount of greenery. There’s a wide, maybe 4 metre wide grand wooden staircase surrounded by boulders & trees as you enter and the check-in/reception is on the 1st floor where you’ll find 6m high trees, all the cosy danish furniture you could hope for & the main restaurant & bar. This particular layout reminded me a lot of their Los Angeles property.
Food
As it was CPHFW, I had external dinners almost every night and so the only meal I had was breakfast & even that, was only on my final morning 😅. That said, it was actually really good. There was a great selection of well-seasoned dishes and great juice options. I’ll definitely be trying more of their food when I’m back in Copenhagen later this year.
Facilities
The main downside right now is that the wellness areas and main gym aren’t finished yet. The full wellness offering is expected to be completed in 2027 & the spa will be operated by @bamford .
Service
The doormen were almost always there & ready to open the main door, and the concierge team were incredibly organised with my deliveries. Staff overall felt warm and eager to help.
Good to know
• Security deposit: 1000DKK (£115) per night
• A temporary on-site gym is open
• Bike rental: around £25/day
So, would I stay again? Yeah, I 💯 would.
Between being a @vamuseum member & seeing that my favourite shoe brand, @manoloblahnik were the sponsors, I knew a visit to the Marie Antoinette Style exhibition was imminent.
There was a moment when @klaudiacloud & I were talking & she just stopped, mid sentence and gasped; so I turned around to see what she could see and it was the room with all of the incredible outfits displayed across two levels and it truly did feel magical and is something you’ve gotta see in person.
It closes Sunday, 22 March 2026, so be sure to get tickets but honestly you might as well become a member because the flexibility of being to go anytime, however many times, is so good. Plus I have the membership where I can bring a plus one, so the £120 price tag covers itself after a few exhibition visits.
@vamuseum is easily my favourite museum in London and I can’t wait for their Schiaparelli: Fashion Becomes Art exhibition that opens in March 🥹
an autumnal refresh
The rouge tones from the @nordicknots rug, artwork and accessories mean that @studio.arva now feels warmer and perfect for the season.
My studio is where I create content, develop @drink.arva flavours, design furniture, and so much more. I love giving it seasonal refreshes/ redesigns and this is probably one of my favourite iterations to date.
There was a time when I prioritised renting it out, and I often couldn’t even use it myself 🥲 so I shifted my priorities, so that it could fully become my creative space and I love it so much.
That said, we still get a couple dozen requests each month to book it for shoots 😅, and I don’t technically need it every day… so I’ve decided to open it up for a few days each month.
Stay tuned — November and December dates will be released soon & all info will be on arva.co.uk
This isn’t a review as I simply toured the property and didn’t actually stay, so let’s call this a “first thoughts of my first look at the @thechanceryrosewood ”.
• There are no check in or check out times, you tell them the exact times that work for you & i’m in love with this flexibility.
• Every room is a suite, with the smallest room being 570 ft².
• There is a @bentleymotors Bentayga house car that doesn’t have a radius limit, it’s simply based on availability.
• Each suite comes with a return trip to the airport (or I suppose anywhere within airport distance eg if you wanted to be picked up from somewhere within London)
• Complimentary soft drinks and snacks from the minibar (as it should be in all luxury hotels tbh)
• I discovered Joseph Dirand’s work around 5 years ago, ironically through a tour of his Parisian apartment and was pleasantly surprised to find out that I had been in & liked a lot of spaces he had previously designed but that I was not aware of at the time. Anyways, he designed the chancery’s 144 suites & communal spaces. Based on photos the hotel had shared I didn’t like the design, then I saw it in person and captured it the way I saw it and I now actually think the decor is probably one of the strongest in a luxury hotel in London. It’s still a little safe but it feels rich, timeless & like it has a personality.
• I’m biased because green is my favourite colour & often hotel bathrooms are so boring but their green stone, brass hardware designed ones are probably one of my favorite hotel bathrooms.
• I often find hotel art to be nonsensical 🥴 but with over 700 pieces placed around the property I found myself actually drawn to & interested in the art which was a nice and welcome surprise. A truly great curation from what I could see.
• Signature Suites and House guests have access to a private butler, so everything from unpacking, to errands is covered by them with no additional cost.
There’s still a lot to say about the hotel, plus I’ve not seen its spa & all of the food outlets so stay tuned as hopefully I’ll get a chance to over the coming months.
when you find out that one of your favourite pieces at @friezeofficial is actually a portrait of your friend @emmafineman , painted by @sarah_ball_artist .
