Okay, hereâs a small news. Slowly and steadily we came to a round about of 10 years! 2014- in October Ainak was born. It became a home for ideas and dreams - starting with short film #Sandhya to short documentary #Utsav, itâs taken sometime to take one step after another.
We had the pleasure of understanding the nature and nuances on folk from the best of the artists and experts. Thank you @vinodvirasat@madan4meena Vijay Verma Ji, Prabhat Ji @khushismeena on your guidance.
When I desired to foray into music videos, @kanikapatawari placed her trust in me. Its been a blessing to have her in my life, which has moved from collaboration on music videos to being co-producers on our recent film @gagan.gaman
Collaborating with @shilpaananth has been a joyride of its own kind. I love how she provides a playground for my ideas and becomes a partner in crime.
We are a production house that follows our heart and tilts more towards making art than commercials but the collaboration with brands like @baisegaba@xynteo@recircle.in@shadhika_india@noccarc@bedlamstudios@is4uh and some talented international filmmakers and artists like @ayoung___kim Christian Schidlowski, Camilla Calamandrei have been extremely rewarding.
We are excited for our journey hereon - moving into co producing feature films with filmmakers like @bhuwanbhokaal@ananddchouhan and more exciting work is brewing here.
Not to forget @rewrite.ainak that has been possible due to support from our amazing mentors each edition. @atika.chohan@bash.mehta@forgetfulblink@paranjapetushar@ajitpalsview@bikasmishra@aastha_tiku@ridhamjanve@chaudhuripubali@filmpushpendra@jdsarkar@nomadsfilmschool@sanjay__gulati@samkhan@bhambeeree Thank you for being a part of rewrite!
We have worked with some talented folks from across India past few years, some names instrinsically form a part of team Ainak. @chor_uchakka Maheshwari Shekhawat @supriyabcd Deshraj Gurjar @nareshnash007@iamrajbajiya@angelabinoy_ the Jaipur gang. We are proud to welcome Suruchi SharmaâNational Award-winning filmmaker and producerâto the Cannes Film Festival as part of the World Woman Cannes Agenda.
Suruchi Sharma is a distinctive voice in contemporary cinema, known for her deeply rooted storytelling that weaves together folk culture, feminine narratives, and sustainability. Her work moves fluidly between documentary and allegorical fiction, creating a visual language that is both poetic and socially resonant.
Her documentary Meen Raag earned the prestigious Silver Lotus at the 69th National Film Awards (2023), while her docu-series Equals received a Special Mention at the IDA Awards 2023. Her experimental film Gagan Gaman premiered at the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2024 and was later showcased at Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur 2025, further establishing her presence on the global festival circuit. Earlier in her career, she was awarded the Forum Lenteng Award for her first independent documentary Utsav.
A graduate of the National Institute of Design, India, Suruchi founded Studio Ainak in 2014âa boutique production house committed to culturally grounded storytelling that centers marginalized voices and regional narratives. As a producer, she is actively championing regional cinema through projects such as Chetak, The Sandstorm, and Kunchok and His Many Moons, each reflecting her commitment to diverse and authentic storytelling.
In 2022, she launched Rewrite, a residential screenwritersâ mentoring program designed to nurture emerging feature film writers and strengthen the ecosystem for independent cinema.
Selected for the impACT Lab at the MarchĂŠ du Film at Cannes 2026 through Women In Film India, Suruchi continues to expand the boundaries of impact-driven filmmakingâboth through her directorial work and her dedication to amplifying underrepresented voices.

⌠Studio Ainak goes to Cannes! âŚ
Weâre thrilled to share that Studio Ainak is headed to the @marchedufilm at Festival de Cannes 2026 (12â20 May). đ Our founder and filmmaker Suruchi Sharma has been selected by @wifindia as one of two emerging women producers from India to attend impACT Lab, a programme mentoring upcoming producers from across the world.
Sheâll be attending as producer on our work-in-progress feature Chetak by Bhuwan Somani, alongside other stories weâve been quietly building from Rajasthan rooted in heritage, identity, and the voices that deserve to be heard. This is a proud moment for everyone at Studio Ainak.
Grateful to Women in Film India and impACT Lab for creating this platform for Indian women producers.
See you on the Croisette. đ´

Gopal ji is clear about the traditionâs identity: âChang Dhamal is a farmersâ thing,â he says, though he notes a quiet, hopeful shift as young girls in the village begin to take interest in the dance.
He and his group, primarily from the Jaat community, have refined their craft into a synchronized spectacle, yet he worries about the modern era. In a world where eyes are often glued to screens and everything is measured by money, he strives to protect the original intent of the craft. For him, the Chang is about more than sound; it is about keeping brotherhood and communal love alive.
Very few groups maintain the authentic spirit of the Shekhawati traditions like Gopal Geela and Party. This April, we celebrate Gopal Geela as our Artist of the Month as part of the Heritage Film Showcase by @studio.ainak in collaboration with @arya_niwas_hospitality
Each month, we celebrate these masters to offer them the recognition they deserve. Through this initiative, each Artist of the Month receives an honorarium, a small gesture of honor and support for keeping these invaluable traditions alive.
A moment of immense pride for Team Dhood (Sandstorm)! đŹâ¨
We are thrilled to announce that our Executive Producer, Suruchi Sharma (Founder : @studio.ainak ), has been selected for the prestigious Impact Lab at MarchĂŠ du Film - Festival de Cannes 2026.
Suruchi is attending as a recipient of the Women In Film India (WIF India) scholarship, an incredible initiative by @guneetmonga to empower Indian producers on the global stage.
Congratulations, Suruchi! We are honored to have your deep rooted vision driving âDhoodâ toward global horizons. đŽđłđď¸

For cinematographer Ashok Meena, the answer lies in listening, intuition, and artistic honesty.
We are incredibly proud to celebrate two laurels for Best Cinematography for our latest film, @gagan.gaman (ŕ¤ŕ¤ŕ¤¨ ŕ¤ŕ¤Žŕ¤¨). To mark this milestone, we are diving behind the lens to share a beautiful, candid excerpt from a conversation with our cinematographer Ashok Meena on how these award-winning visuals came to life.
Leaning into the natural light of Rajasthan, Ashokâs approach reminds us that the best cinematography makes every moment felt.

Dariya Bai Manganiyar grew up in Bishala, 30 km from Barmer, listening to her father play the kamaicha. Inspired by her bua (her aunt), music found her early and never let go. Dariya Bai also taught music through community workshops, passing on songs that hold the wisdom, longing, and quiet strength of generations. Her voice reached millions when she lent it to the Bollywood film Padmaavat.
âThis is traditional wisdom carried forward for generations. The more people enjoy the music, the more it will continue.â
Very few artists remain who know what Dariya Bai knows. Every performance she gives is a gift, and she loves giving it.
Each month, we celebrate these artists as part of the Heritage Film Showcase in collaboration with Arya Niwas like we have Dariya Bai this month. Through this initiative, each Artist of the Month receives an honorarium, a small gesture of love for keeping these invaluable traditions alive.
With Support from @supriyabcd
A filmmaker who spent years trying to fit her ideas into conventional formats until she found a new emerging short film form. Gagan Gaman, the latest short from National Award-winning director Suruchi Sharma, is a modern folktale rooted in the myths and music of Rajasthan.
In a conversation with North East Film Journal, Suruchi talks about making a film guided entirely by instinct, the role of sound in building a world, what it means to love a city and still see it critically and why she believes patrons should support the artists.
The film is now live on BMS Stream, Apple TV and soon on Google Play. Independent cinema, finding its audience one step at a time.
