I was recently invited to the ā300 Faces of Edinburgh Medical Schoolā launch event. Marking the 300th anniversary of the Faculty of Medicine at #EdinburghUniversity, this exhibition celebrates the people who have made inspirational contributions to the school.
I am honoured, elated, and humbled to be included in an outdoor photographic exhibition at the Mound, #Edinburgh, as part of the #EdSciFest.
Iām particularly grateful to the organisers for acknowledging my educational blogging and charitable fundraising efforts related to my own #SightLoss.
After losing vision in my left eye, the charity @sightscotland played an integral part in my recovery, supporting my mental wellbeing with compassion and practical advice via their free helpline. Without them, Iām not sure Iād have returned to work at the university.
Iād like to take this opportunity to try and raise Ā£300 for this remarkable charity. Donate if you can to my JustGiving fundraiser via the following link (100% goes directly to Sight Scotland):

This was my Heihei entry for @BonnieBricks epic #Bricktastic collaboration.
Very happy to say āHeihei Fried Chickenā came first in the public vote! Thank you for all the kind support and comments.
100% #Lego - PAB box, paper bags and Muji hole punch to attach plate legally to cardboard.
P.S. I know Heihei means chicken, but I love a bad pun more.

My second entry in the #LegoIdeas challenge āDesign a Vendor Cartā was called āChip Ahoy!ā.
Every city needs a good chippy, and the āChip Ahoy!ā vendor stand has won awards for its crispy battered haddock and deliciously tender chips. Itās the plaice to be!
Hold on tight to your fish supper, little girl, and donāt let the cheeky seagull steal your chips!

January is #BrailleLiteracyMonth, so Iām especially pleased to have earned my Certificate of Achievement for āLearning Through Play with #LegoBrailleBricksā.
As part of my #SightLoss journey, Iāve been learning #Braille. Itās still early days, but Iāve had a lot of fun using #Lego Braille Bricks to help me get familiar with characters, literacy, and numeracy.
It took me quite a few months to complete, fitting it in around work, but Iād heartily recommend this 8-week course, and it is free to join via FutureLearn.
Whilst this course doesnāt specifically teach you braille, I wanted to expand my understanding of how to use playful learning when building models with Lego Braille Bricks, and displaying them at model shows in an inclusive manner.
Lego Braille Bricks is a play-based approach to engaging children in the process of learning braille. The course covered pre-braille and braille skills, creating lesson plans and new activities using this inclusive educational tool. We were encouraged to share our ideas with our peers to further develop this playful concept.
