It’s been a few weeks since the @chicoreview Review, and my mind keeps circling back to the experience. There’s a sense that something new is beginning, and I want to leave space to see where it leads. I’m still processing how deeply it stirred something in me, how it reignited my creativity in ways I didn’t expect.
Many of the photographers I connected with were telling deeply personal stories through their work. If I’m being honest, that kind of approach has always felt uncomfortable for me. When I photograph, I don’t usually think about inserting my own voice or story into the images. There’s a vulnerability in that kind of exposure that I’ve tended to avoid. And yet, it’s exactly the kind of work I’m starting to feel drawn toward.
That tension feels real. Because outside of my own work, I genuinely enjoy sitting with people, hearing their stories, and exploring ideas that carry deep personal meaning. Seeing others embrace that same openness in their art, wrestling with their emotions and presenting them without filters was powerful. The images carried weight, and the intention behind them felt undeniable.
Another aspect that stood out was how each artist was experimenting with new ways to shape and present their work through innovative processes and book formats. When personal emotion, symbolism, and culture come together with thoughtful physical expression, the result is something transformative.

I was so excited to visit The Sage during Wolf Week. My favorite part of the property is the way the team makes you feel immediately at home. The sense of warmth and comfortable hospitality they create is hard to achieve.

I was recently given tickets to the symphony by my neighbor who was going through a difficult time. He had worked his whole life to be able to attain such good tickets. As I travel around the country experiencing so many wonderful people I’ve been struck by the common texture of generosity and the realization that so many are yearning for connection. I’ve met authors and Native American quilters, dread wearing businessman and an Indian scientist on the verge of a personal culinary breakthrough. These moments with people, however brief, seem to call me forward into a future beautiful and uncertain. They remind me of the dash of my own life and what I hope it’s filled with and where I hope it leads others too.
