Join us for Sound Art Meet-up #1 with Marie Yevkiné Tirard, Choi Boryeon, and Luiz Henrique Otto — an online gathering with short artist presentations and time for conversation. The artists will share insights into their practices and current research. Marie Yevkiné Tirard will present “Poems and Lullabies of the Post-Nostalgic.” She transforms the poems of her Armenian ancestor, Yevkiné Diarian, into songs. After she found a book of poems, written in the 1930s by her ancestor, survivor of the Armenian genocide, the artist felt an urge to give a voice to these words, confined like silent relics, during 100 years. Her ongoing research explores voice, music, signs and images as means to let a threatened archive survive. Choi Boryeon will present “Ururu with Clouds and Friends,” introducing Ururu.cloud, a sound art community in Seoul. Choi will speak about practices described as “lost species”: ways of maintaining a sense of awe toward objects and connections through small web and low technology. Luiz Henrique Otto will present “Mining Sounds, Performance and Public Intervention at the 30th Conference of the Parties,” sharing the research process around the performance The Sirens That Didn’t Sound (MABe/COP-30). This ongoing project investigates mining sirens and the politics of listening through safety manuals, journalistic reports, oral accounts, and amplified audience interventions. 19 May 2026 13:00 CEST Online link: /meet/372569694404927?p=8Ld8hNIE0VkawCAkmF (also in bio)

BODIES AND SUBWOOFERS (B.A.S.) 12.0: SUPER STRETCHED at @struertracks Biennial for Sound Art and Listening, Denmark, 2025. Thank you @jacoberik , @soundartlab_dk and @struertracks . It was a beautiful moment. Lying down in the subs, watching the water, feeling the sound which merged with Struer’s strong wind. Next: B.A.S. opens May 23 at @kunstfestspiele , Hannover. Last year I got the chance to join a beautiful collaborative publication as part of the @struertracks festival, sharing some reflections, text scores and participatory sound art under the title 'Fragments for multilingual listening'. I wasn't using social media at the time, so I thought I'd mention it belatedly on here. The whole publication, put together with great care by @zlpv , is full of good things for your mind, heart and ears: 'The digital edition of the Struer Tracks Almanac, Kommunal Praksis, invites you to explore how communities are formed and expressed through sound and listening practices. Hybrid, genre-defying contributions offer ways to experience the everyday and the unexpected, the bodily and the social, the personal and the shared.' You can find my piece via linktree (link in bio) or explore the whole publication here: https://almanac.struertracks.dk/

Listening Hotline - are you in need of listening? The Listening Hotline is an ongoing artistic and social project by Bureau for Listening. It presents listening as both a critical framework and a lived practice, unfolding through voice, attention, and presence. The hotline is not simply a channel for communication, but a space where listening itself becomes the work. When calling the hotline, you enter a situation shaped by listening. You may be greeted by listening staff, choose to receive a brief pep-talk, listen to sound art, or remain in shared auditory space. Each call takes form through the caller’s pace, tone, and needs. The work exists in this exchange, momentary and relational. Please note, and outside of our openings hours we will be encounter a self-service listening hotline, offering several services in its menu. The Listening Hotline operates between service and artwork, care and performance. It proposes listening as an active force that creates relation, invites reflection, and allows for pause in an environment shaped by speed and demand. What does it mean to be listened to without expectation? How does attention change when it is offered rather than requested? Can listening become a form of collective care, or even a site of imagination? The Listening Hotline invites these questions to be experienced rather than answered. — Photo 1: from our performative installation ‘Borgerservice for Listening’ during @struertracks in @struerlydensby - thank you @soundartlab_dk — /listening-hotline/

– @jakobgustavwinckler I’ve been visiting Struer Tracks since day one in 2017, when it launched as a biennial of »site-specific sound art in public space.« I witnessed the transformation that came with new artistic director Jacob Eriksen in 2022: a major liposuction, slimming the biennial down from several weeks into a concentrated festival format with a packed program – this year including sound art installations, performances, communal meals, workshops, book launches, city walks, film screenings, and even an annual general meeting. A clever move: this way the sound art community from all over the world can gather at once, enabling exchanges that put Struer not only on the map of Denmark, but on the world map. Once again, the festival radio broadcast live from their iconic caravan with reports, intimate concerts, and interviews. Nobody had to miss a thing. Brilliant. … It’s easy to forget that the story of the sound city by the Limfjord is just a myth invented by clever marketers. When the harbor industry could no longer sustain the town, attention turned to its old export pride, Bang & Olufsen, and the idea was born that Struer should have a special relationship to sound – simply because the company, which today sells luxurious audio systems worldwide, was founded here a hundred years ago and still has its headquarters in town. I’d like to share a project I’ve been working on throughout the past academic year — Almanac which was dedicated for Struer Tracks biennial. The project has two versions: • a main digital edition with contributions from 56 participants who shared essays, articles, sound pieces, and conversations reflecting on the theme of Kommunal Praksis; • and a shorter printed edition featuring 17 selected texts, with a stronger focus on written formats. I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who took part and to everyone who supported the project.❣️ A huge thank you to the whole Sound Art Lab team for your trust and support — this internship was a wonderful experience and I’ve learned so much. Special thanks to my partner @jonathan_heneis , for excellent and beautiful work on developing and maintaining the Almanac website, and to @prystavka.jpg for designing the background for the main page. I’m very grateful to @linnhenrichson for the incredibly fast, professional, and precise work on the design of the printed edition; to Mohamed Hamad for copy-editing; to @jacoberik for supervising the project, for giving me the opportunity to join the internship, support and for creating such a valuable learning experience; and to Maryia Kamarova for the beautiful photographs of Struer used in the printed version. Finally, thank you to my family and friends for the countless hours of conversations about this project and for always being there with your support < 33
