First field of the year, ‘18 Acre’, cut for silage. A diverse mix of grasses, chicory, clover and plantain. Hopefully the rain will hold for a few days and this will make some delicious winter feed for the calves!

February and March have flown by without us managing to post, so here are some highlights from the last two months on the farm:
1. Spotting this little one on the wildlife camera
2. Escaping pigs, caught on another wildlife camera
3. A half-frozen lake
4. Moving the first cows out of the barns…and through the floods
5. Pruning the orchard ready for spring
6. Bringing in the ewe lambs to select next year’s breeding stock
7. Planting the final hedgerows of the winter.
Not featured, Pregnancy scanning the Cows and the Ewes. Lambs due mid April and calves early May!
Frosty January mornings always remind us to slow down after a busy Christmas season. Our weekly deliveries will re-start from the 14th, but for now we’re all enjoying a change to the routine and a chance to reflect on the year that’s passed.
