I always forget to talk during shows save for the occasional hilarious, perfectly executed little quip but last week’s show in Brooklyn was really something special. Thank you so much to all the friends who came out to support us. I hope I told you that in person but I may have been too overwhelmed. And huge shoutout to @lostchildrenandotherproblems and 0 Conduit for killing it. We had a blast and did a thing we’ve been talking about for years. For Bandcamp We-get-all-the-money Friday I put a darling little ep of covers and songs I wrote for friends during the early days of the pandemmy. All proceeds go to @abortionfunds . Check them out, they do amazing work. Link in bio & song explanations below if you’re interested! Sit Down By the Fire is a beautiful song by @the_veils . I’ve always wished I wrote it but I didn’t so I learned it and performed it for a remote show at @mosesianarts that ended up not happening but the video is out there and it’s pretty sweet gotta say. The recording of Don’t Pray on Me is the only one that is an older recording. Back in I think 2016 Texas was trying to instate a series of trap laws that would severely limit a person’s access to abortion. It went to the Supreme Court. They lost that one. I recorded this then and it’s even more relevant now. Also it was written in 1993 so I guess it just always will be (but maybe not!) Gameshows Touch Our Lives has always been one my favorite @mountaingoatsmusic songs. It hit even harder when we were all stuck in our living rooms with our drinks of lovely little things. Every line makes me want to curl up on the floor and weep. Last Night I Dreamt I Was a Hero. My friend Ryan and I were talking about some wild dreams we had and I was telling him about this one where I was just going around saving the day a bunch and just pretty much being a big dang ol' hero, and not just sleeping all day then watching hours of TV which is what I was really doing because it was April 2020. He (half?)jokingly said you should write a song called Last Night I Dreamed I was a Hero. So I did and i think it's cute! Tony’s Song is my favorite. It has sax on it. My good friend @san_anton ‘s amazing fiancee @aolopo commissioned me to write this song for him at the beginning of the pandemic when they were forced to cancel their long-awaited and much-deserved vacation to Zion National Park. These are two of the sweetest people I have ever met and it was an honor to mentally plop myself into their relationship for a few days while I worked on this. And I'm pretty sure they eventually went on the trip. You did it! Thanks I love you!
