So thrilled to be in the middle of the
@creativemusicguild Improvisation Summit, a 2.5 week-long festival of eclectic modern music, spanning anywhere from free jazz to industrial noise, or ambient to avant-groove, presented by CMG across eleven venues in Portland and featuring a wild assortment of the most creative and innovative artists in the world.
@instagambz and his crew have worked tirelessly to organize and execute such a logistically complex festival that is so diverse and inclusive, so I wanted to give the CMG their flowers for everything they do for the PNW.
Last night, I had the pleasure of playing at the newest venue for the Improv Summit,
@sky_line.pro , which will be presenting
@_leftofcenter (me and
@almeltzerfaceoff ) and
@ian_yuck_lindsay 's "Yucky Jazz" project at SkyTav on the last day of the festival October 29th, from 7-9pm
The day before that, SkyTav's own
@scottraybecker will be presenting his project "Electric Palace Ensemble" which fuses Americana and roots rock with late '60s spiritual jazz, which features the one and only
@strangelanguage on guitar.
So many more performances to see during Improv Summit, and I'd highly recommend checking out creativemusicguild.org for a full calendar of events.
Tate (Strange Language) and I both have residencies at SkyTav, and we both modified our programming to allow for free improvisation in the spirit of CMG, so here is a fully improvised piece by Tate, Milo Fultz, and me from our SkyTav gig last night.
Milo isn't part of the Improv Summit this year, BUT you can hear him with
@instagambz and I on our newest
@djungoljim album "Beach Jamz '03," which is available on Bandcamp already and will hit all major streaming platforms at midnight tonight.
