TONIGHT, as we gather to say goodbye to 2025 and welcome in the New Year, with our first Ball Drop Marshal David Halvorsen, who has officially retired after 38 years of service with the Cornwall-on-Hudson Department of Public Works as of yesterday! When this ball drop tradition began in 2001, Dave was working, like so many in DPW, police, fire, and first responders, spending New Year’s Eve serving the community rather than celebrating with their families. This year marks the first New Year’s Eve that we get to celebrate with Dave. We thank him for his decades of dedication and for the countless hours his department has devoted to making this celebration so special year after year. Congratulations, Dave. It is an honor to name you our first Ball Drop Marshal, and we are grateful to celebrate the New Year together!!

Last night, we had the honor of co-hosting with @stormking_lounge to invite our local business community through the @cornwallchamberofcommerce monthly meeting to preview Hudson Hall at Storm King Theater. This was the first group to experience the space and to get an exclusive sneak peek of Storm King Theater while it is under construction. It was a special opportunity to share the vision, the business model, and the purpose behind what we are building. To simplify, Storm King Theater is a hybrid nonprofit under the @cfosrny . Private events help fund free public programming through @stormkingevents and a separate fund for the theater exists for large upgrades and repairs. When the theater opens it will be a full-service theater with a fully functioning stage, capable of hosting everything from cinema to live performances, all within an intimate, lounge-style atmosphere that can seat 80-100. More than that, the theater is meant to be a community anchor and a true asset. As one of my favorite theater ads from the 1930s said, the value of a theater to a community is immeasurable. It attracts visitors, shapes first impressions, reflects the character and progress of a place, and becomes a center of energy and connection. Because of its presence, people are drawn in who might otherwise pass by. It is an asset of real and lasting importance. The Cornwall Chamber has been incredibly supportive of this effort, and I am grateful to be part of such a strong and encouraging business community. I know in my heart this is a unifying success we will all share. Thank you to the Cornwall Chamber and to everyone who was able to attend. I look forward to working together and building something where new stories will unfold, memories will be made, and a new home for greater Cornwall to gather and share extraordinary experiences. This next chapter belongs to all of us… We are just getting started!❤️🥳❤️ 🎞️Thank you to everyone who shared photos and video- this is a hodgepodge of a few I saved).

Chamber Monthly Meeting – March 24 Join us for the Greater Cornwall Chamber of Commerce Monthly Meeting on Tuesday, March 24, hosted at Storm King Lounge and inside Hudson Hall. You will be among the first to experience the newly completed space. This special meeting will offer Chamber members an exclusive inside look at the plans for the restoration of the historic @stormkingtheater . Details shared during this presentation will not be shared publicly or on social media. Attendees will also preview Hudson Hall, the newly completed event and gathering space within the theater complex. Members will hear about the vision for the theater, the business model behind the project, and how the space will be utilized to host community experiences, cultural programming, and private events designed to serve our community and attract visitors into Cornwall. The meeting will also introduce @stormkingevents , the newly formed organization evolving from COH Special Events. Storm King Events will continue creating and coordinating community events that strengthen our local economy, celebrate our area, and bring everyone together now with a home base at the theater enabling us to offer events and experiences for the community year-round, both indoors and outdoors. Most importantly, we want to hear from the business community. This meeting is an opportunity to explore ideas, partnerships, and programming that can help drive foot traffic, tourism, and economic activity throughout Cornwall, while also creating opportunities for local businesses to get involved, whether through Storm King Events or by utilizing the theater independently. We hope you will join us for this behind-the-scenes look at a project that aims to become a new cultural and economic anchor for the community, and of course the opportunity to connect and network with fellow Chamber members. 👉Register on website or link in bio

Deleted the first post because a video came through of Dave’s countdown and it needed to be part of this post! Last night we dropped the ball as we have every year since 2001, and it was an unforgettable evening. Snowflakes fell from the sky like confetti, the disco ball illuminated the park, and the New Year’s Eve ball shone over a crowd gathered in anticipation of ringing in the new year. Our first-ever Ball Drop Marshal, @halvorsendavid , led us into 2026 with the countdown, followed by a beautiful fireworks display. Earlier in the evening, the junior ball drop was a huge hit for kids and for anyone who prefers to celebrate before midnight. Ending the year together and beginning again together is a tradition we are deeply grateful for. Thank you to the late Nick Corea for starting this tradition in 2001, and to the community that has kept it alive ever since. Thank you to DPW, Police, Fire, First Responders, the Village Board, and the Mayor for supporting this effort year after year. A huge thank you to the @cornwall_youth_committee for launching and hosting the junior event, which has grown so much that it will need expanded space in the square next year! Thank you as well to @trainormike , who has carried the main event forward for at least the past decade. So many people come together to keep this iconic community tradition thriving, and every year it reminds us how lucky we are to call this place home. Happy New Year to all! 🪩🕺🪩 PS The good photos are by @dspstudio96 (thank you!) the rest are by me 😜 thanks @trainorjennifer for the video of Dave!!

As we prepare to close out the year and look ahead to the next, we want to pause and reflect with gratitude. COH Special Events was founded in 2016 by @dominic_cordisco and @trainormike . Earlier this year, Dominic stepped down from the committee, a transition that left a void in our organization. As one of our founders, Dominic was instrumental in shaping COH Special Events and establishing Movies on the Hudson. He gave generously of his time, energy, and leadership, always approaching the work with a community-first mindset. His commitment helped build the strong foundation that exists today. While his departure was difficult, nine years of service is an extraordinary contribution, and we respect his decision. As we look ahead, another significant transition is approaching. Our other co-founder, Mike, will be retiring in the coming year and has made the decision to step down from COH Special Events. After a lifetime of volunteerism and public service, he has earned the opportunity to live life on his own time and on his own terms. This change arrives as we enter our tenth year as a committee and as the nation prepares for America’s 250th celebration. The year 2026 will be a milestone year in every sense. We have reached a pivotal moment. The work Dominic and Mike spent nearly a decade building has given us something meaningful to carry forward. Their leadership created a committee rooted in unity, service, and shared purpose. With that foundation in place, we now have the opportunity and responsibility to continue the work they began. As we enter the new year, planning is underway, and we look forward to sharing what comes next when the time is right. In Dominic’s and Mike’s honor, we will continue to lead with the values they modeled and work to make them proud. This is not Mike’s last ball drop, but it is his last ball drop under the COH Special Events umbrella. That moment marks both an ending and a beginning and feels fitting for a New Year celebration. It could not be more Mike. To our founders, thank you for creating a committee with a single purpose: to unite our community and spread joy. We are forever grateful… absolute legends. Thank you.❤️⭐️❤️

Due to weather, we rescheduled this event for Monday December 15th. Same time, same place! With great thanks to our sponsors and supporters (Clark & Associates, Vivien Collens, Cornwall Chamber and COH Special Events), we’re able to host a fundraiser for our furry besties in support of the Hudson Valley SPCA, our local no-kill animal shelter. On Monday, December 15th from 6–8pm, we’ll be on Bridge Street with Santa, who cannot wait to take photos with all the good boys and girls of Cornwall. Families and friends can hop in the photos too. To support this event, we’re asking attendees to consider purchasing something from their Amazon Wish List (link in bio) or bringing an item from the list in this post About the Hudson Valley SPCA The Hudson Valley SPCA is a unique shelter. Not only do they provide the only no-kill facility in the area, they are also the only source of Humane Law Enforcement in Orange County. Their staff and volunteers protect and defend animals, and work every day to find loving, lifelong homes for each one.

We are so excited for the Village Tree Lighting next Saturday, November 29. The Professional Musicians of Orange County will be performing, we’ll have letters to Santa, and of course a visit from the big man himself. There’s no place like home for the holidays and we can’t wait to celebrate in the Village! We will also be selling our holiday ornaments and all orders will be available for pickup at the event if you didn’t select pickup at checkout. Link in bio if you want to order yours and take advantage of the discount!

Featuring our iconic Nutcrackers, Hudson and Idlewild, this year’s ornament is a classic, American-made piece with 24kt gold detail designed to shine in your home for years to come. Presale orders are $10 off with the code HOME4HOLIDAYS through Friday, November 28th. Link in bio to purchase. Every ornament sold directly supports our ability to host free community events throughout the year. Your support keeps these traditions going strong. As we put together the Home for the Holidays schedule, we realized something… there is no better place to be home for the holidays than right here. Cornwall and Cornwall on Hudson shine this time of year. We’ve created a simple overview of everything happening this season not just our events, but programs hosted by committees, partners, and groups throughout town. We’ll be sharing updates throughout the season, including details on the Giving Trees in the Town and Village and all event announcements. Thank you for your support, your enthusiasm, and for making this community feel more magical than a Hallmark movie.

Cornwall Cares: Supporting the West Point Pantry and Essentials Drive Part 2: We are restarting our West Point food and essentials drive because we were made aware that our neighbors, including many who live right here in our community, need our help. For some, the situation is unique and complex. During the federal shutdown, many civilian federal employees on post are furloughed or working without pay. They are also restricted from asking for assistance due to federal regulations. As a result, the pantries on post are running low and individuals and families could use support. Adding to this, many are choosing to limit travel off post out of concern that leaving may affect eligibility for back pay, if back pay is even approved. This makes proactive community support especially important. There are many incredible efforts happening everywhere❤️, but the circumstances here require direct and thoughtful assistance. Collection begins November 10 and will continue for as long as support is needed. Drop-off Locations: • Bridge Street outside Clark & Associates • Town Bandstand • Motivate Physical Therapy • Additional locations to be announced Items Needed: Pantry staples, canned goods, pasta and sauce, cereal, snacks, paper goods, toiletries, laundry detergent, and household essentials. Please donate items that are new, unopened, and unexpired. Additional Ways to Help: • Bulk Purchasing Option: We are able to purchase food at wholesale pricing through Restaurant Depot and our commercial suppliers. If you would like to pool funds to buy in bulk, we can coordinate ordering and direct delivery to West Point. • Gift Cards Welcome: Supermarket gift cards are a meaningful option that allow families dignity and flexibility in choosing what they need. Please contact Elizabeth @eliza7654 or 718.288.6849 to arrange gift card or bulk purchase Volunteers Needed: If you can help with collection sites, daily drop-offs, or sorting, please reach out. If you know of any organizations, churches, or businesses that may want to partner, please connect us. Thank you @cornwallchamberofcommerce for partnering with us to support a bigger effort!

Thank you, Cornwall. You really outdid yourselves with your generosity for the Cornwall Cares West Point Food and Pantry Drive. While military personnel are currently paid, government employees are not. This includes West Point school staff, hospital staff, support staff, and Title 10 employees. Even our contact at West Point who helped coordinate this drive is working unpaid right now. Your contributions matter. They will go a long way in supporting families who are carrying a heavier load than usual. Thank you for stepping up for our neighbors. May the good work continue. 🩷
