Cornwall Cares: Supporting the West Point Pantry and Essentials Drive Part 2: We are restarting our West Point food and essentials drive because we were made aware that our neighbors, including many who live right here in our community, need our help.
For some, the situation is unique and complex. During the federal shutdown, many civilian federal employees on post are furloughed or working without pay. They are also restricted from asking for assistance due to federal regulations. As a result, the pantries on post are running low and individuals and families could use support.
Adding to this, many are choosing to limit travel off post out of concern that leaving may affect eligibility for back pay, if back pay is even approved. This makes proactive community support especially important. There are many incredible efforts happening everywhere❤️, but the circumstances here require direct and thoughtful assistance.
Collection begins November 10 and will continue for as long as support is needed.
