This is a LOW-THRESHOLD opportunity designed to ensure EVERYONE can participate, especially those without access to supplies or transportation. We can coordinate DROP OFF & PICK-UP of art materials across Los Angeles as needed. Had the time of my life at the 6th annual @afroanimationsummit . @mylesmum8 and @keithwhiteusa gave us a masterclass in community building that is my north star for @stonehavenstudios Afrofuturist Art Fairs across LA. Befriended dozens of brilliant designers, writers, casting directors, producers, and visionaries from across the world, all showing up and showing out to build a brighter future together. Whether at @outsideinthtr with @bottletreetheatreco or at the @amctheatres @cambriaimperialhotel with our amazing volunteers and managers, there’s something unequivocally powerful about being surrounded by others who understand both your vision and the work it takes to get there. Grateful to have spent the weekend growing, connecting, and being reminded that we’re all building something bigger than ourselves. We’re just getting started. The future is here! BLACKTOPIA PART III COVER ART COMPETITION: DUE 05/10! As we approach the Afrofuturist Art Fair, @stonehavenstudios & @syllblestudios invites multicultural visual artists and designers to create the OFFICIAL cover for BLACKTOPIA Part III, The Isle of Achilles: The third part of our Afrofuturist sci-fi series set at the turn of the 22nd century by @bairtonbrown @kylexjordan and @keimonshook REQUIREMENTS: We’re seeking bold, original designs that capture the spirit of Afrofuturism and Sankofa (honoring legacy while shaping the future). We would love to see elements of Solarpunk architecture (i.e. treehouses, floating islands, etc), cybernetic enhancements (eyes, tails, etc), and ecological evolution (mutated plants, animals, flora, etc). Please include vibrant colors, layered symbolism, and landscape scope. Most importantly, we want to highlight artistry that is Afrocentric, and inspirational. From futuristic cities to cosmic realms, ancestral echoes to reimagined Black futures, please bring your full imagination. DUE BY MAY 10, 2026!
