Shout out to @tyt_management for providing the opportunity for local artist to shine a light on the city. @cnote_the1 on the visuals and a even bigger shout out to everyone who popped out on a Wednesday night knowing they had work or school Thursday morning. I appreciate y’all the most.😂🫡👌🏿
Congratulations to my guys @stonecatcher147 and @jumbojune93 on graduating from @tuftsprisoninitiative . Both of these brothers have been through so many of life’s journeys, obstacles, and challenges, but they continue to rise and win. Their stories are proof that growth, resilience, and determination can change everything.
These brothers are true powers of example, showing others that no matter where you come from or what you’ve been through, success is still possible. Proud of you both. Keep inspiring, keep leading, and keep proving that transformation is real. 🎓💫🙌🏾

A true pleasure bringing this experience to life — guiding students as they absorb the vulnerabilities and lived experiences of men who have navigated our legal system, committed to restorative work, and devoted themselves to a collective mission ensuring the path they walked toward grateful freedom doesn’t become someone else’s.
Their journeys — from the realities of imprisonment to the unspoken myths of the streets, and ultimately to finding meaning in the time they served — are profoundly humbling.

Meet the guests for our Sunday session, A Dreamer’s Economy: Leveraging Intellectual Curiosity, Intersectionality, and Personal Experience to Create Value.
Kentell Weaver is a Civic Studies major at Tufts University, where he began his degree through the Tufts University Prison Initiative of Tisch College in 2019. He entered prison at 16, was sentenced to life at 18, and spent 19 years incarcerated before his release in November 2022. He now works for the Transformational Prison Project as a full-time circle keeper, facilitating restorative justice circles with incarcerated youth in DYS facilities.
Kilee Simon is a junior at Boston University studying Political Science with a minor in African American and Black Diasporic Studies, Co-Founder of the Society of Black Women in Law, and President and Co-Founder of SoulAAn, the generational Black American student organization at BU. She is completing her honors thesis on how race, class, and language biases influence credibility judgments in U.S. courtrooms.
Shay Walker (they/them) is a rising 3L at the David A. Clarke School of Law at the University of the District of Columbia, a Posse Scholar, TEDx speaker, former community engagement manager at REFORM Alliance, and 2025 Robert Masur and Holley Law Fellow with the National LGBTQ Task Force. They currently work as a student attorney in UDC’s Immigration and Human Rights Clinic and are a full-time content creator with nearly 100,000 followers focused on LGBTQ+ rights and identity-based advocacy.
In this session, three dreamers whose lives span incarceration, law, advocacy, and organizing explore what it means to leverage curiosity, intersectionality, and lived experience to create value in the world.

Happy Third Year Anniversary Home, Kentel!
After 19 years in prison, Kentel came home to us on November 30th, 2022.
Kentel is like a big, warm hug. To have him in your life is to know you have someone who will have your back, someone who will listen to understand, a great friend and brother, and a great partner and son.
We see him work hard everyday, putting pen and pencil to paper to complete homework assignments and write lyrical stories. This year alone, he presented at Ted Talk, released his EP ‘The JUMBO Tape,’ and is on track to graduate from Tufts University with a Bachelor’s in Civil Studies.
And one of the things we love most about Kentel is that we never have to waste a ticket to a 50 cent’s concert, because we have Kentel at home!
We love you, Kentel! Happy Third Year Home 💛💙🙌

If we all judged ourselves and others by the mistakes we made and the pain we carried when we were young and didn’t know any better, then, the truth is, nobody would live a life of peace.
But for people like Kentel, Kevin, Twin and Wally, that judgment never ends because they’re on lifetime parole for choices they made at 16, 17, or 18, during times of homelessness, abuse, and deep trauma, and they are still serving invisible sentences long after their time in prison.
Kentel doesn’t want to start a family. Kevin doesn’t let himself fall in love. Twin just wants to live without fear of being re-arrested. And Wally is learning how to come home, rebuild his life after years in prison, and navigate probation without slipping up.
This is what lifetime parole looks like: being judged for a lifetime for the wrong choice, never given the chance to truly come back or live in peace.
Right now, the Transformational Prison Project is pushing to pass the End Lifetime Parole for Juveniles and Emerging Adults bill. This legislation would give Transformative Youth—individuals convicted between the ages of 14 and 21 who have served 15+ years in prison (often 30+), and have remained law-abiding for at least three years on parole—a real second chance. A chance to live, not just survive, and to rejoin their communities as whole and contributing members.
We’re excited to announce that our bill has been scheduled for a hearing at the Massachusetts State House (24 Beacon St.) on Tuesday, November 18 at 1:00 p.m. (Room A-1).
If you’d like to support us or be part of this change, please join one of our Virtual Community Action Meetings: Thursday, November 13 at 7:00 p.m, Saturday, November 15 at 1:00 p.m. or Sunday, November 16 at 7:00 p.m.
