We are incredibly proud of Thandile, Lethabo, Taylor and Kemogetswe, who represented South African Schools' Rowing Federation as part of the U16 South African Development Squad on their recent international rowing tour to the United Kingdom. 🇿🇦🚣‍♀️ The girls competed at the prestigious Wallingford and Scullery Regattas at the iconic Eton College Rowing Centre, delivering outstanding performances against top UK rowing schools. Highlights included Taylor’s silver medal in the U18 single scull at Wallingford, a victory for the SA U16 coxed four, and several strong final finishes across the regattas. The tour also included a special visit to the world-renowned Leander Club, providing invaluable exposure to international rowing traditions and high-performance sport. Well done, girls — we are so proud of your achievements on the world stage.

While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven. Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. And they stayed continually at the temple, praising God (Luke 24: 51-53). Today, our Lord Jesus Christ ascended into heaven; he leaves us with the promise that he will send the Holy Spirt to be our advocate and guide.

For their first Self-eSTEAM project, the Form Is were challenged to create a short story centred around a chosen value. As part of the project, they attended masterclasses in the art of storytelling, as well as workshops on using Canva and Sketchbook to design and illustrate their books. The project culminated in a visit to the Junior Primary, where the Grade 0s and 1s paired up with the Form Is for a special morning of shared reading and storytelling.

Over the April holidays, Jemma (Form V) and Lucy (Form IV) represented South Africa in the World Individual Debating and Public Speaking Championship (WIDPSC) in Bristol, UK. This came after their trialing for the team in August 2025. The tournament consists of four categories, of which every competitor has to participate in: Parliamentary Debating, Impromptu Speaking, Interpretive Reading and Prepared Speaking. Two preliminary rounds take place for all categories, in order to determine the participants who will progress to the semi-finals, where competitors will fight it out to the next rounds. These preliminary rounds also determine the overall placing for competitors in the tournament. Lucy made it through to the semi-finals for Interpretative Reading, Prepared Speaking, and Debating where she broke second after the preliminary rounds. This makes her a semi-finalist for three out of the four categories, a phenomenal achievement on the world stage. In the overall rankings, which are calculated through the sum total of all of your scores from the preliminary rounds across all four categories, she placed 19th in the world, making her the highest ranking South African female, and the highest ranking Grade 11 in the delegation. Jemma made it through to semi-finals, finals and then grand finals for the debating category, where she championed Parliamentary Debating, and has thus been crowned World Champion in the category - a testament to her hard work in the activity overall. Additionally, both girls are members of the South African National Debating Team and will represent the country on tour in July, making this their second time representing South Africa this year, in two distinct disciplines. Jemma, as a returning member of the squad, has been named captain, and will represent South Africa at the World School’s Debating Championship (WSDC) in Kenya. Lucy will be representing the nation at the pre-WSDC tournament in Tanzania. Both were awarded their Official Senior Protea Colours in a blazer ceremony on 27April at Constitution Hill, and will be wearing their green and gold with pride.  Congratulations Lucy and Jemma, we are extremely proud of you!
