Dave is in two great bands! You can hear their live crossover collab - “Adoring Host” (reimagined live at The Voodoo Room) - wherever you get your music.
🧨 STILLHOUND x SLOW KARMA - “Adoring Host” - OUT NOW - taken from our sold out spectacle at The Voodoo Rooms….
It’s a *very* special release… and it’s out now…! “Adoring Host” is a beautiful, vibey electronica classic from the more chill end of Stillhound’s catalogue. Slow Karma have reimagined it and perform it here live with Ferg & Laurie at Voodoo Rooms.
ICYMI - we host a spectacular hometown gig each March and invite some of our friends to perform and co-compose with us. We then invite the finest tech team to make it sound and look as good as possible.
We tape and film the whole thing for posterity - more on this soon but first, please enjoy the SK reimagining of a stone cold Stillhound classic.
Huge love to:

BONUS RELEASE coming courtesy of our good friends (and Dave’s secret family) @slow_karma_ 🐍
Adoring Host is originally from our 2017 ‘Let The Best’ EP and we were made up when SK cooked up their very own arrangement ❤️🔥 So much so we had to join them on stage back in March, the product of which will be released on December 5th 💝
Why not familiarise yourself with the original in the mean time 🎧 sptfy.bio/letthebestep 🎧
More treats from the vault 🗝️
This time from our King Tut’s New Year’s Revolution set in 2017 🕰️
Featuring Laurie with hair, me pretending to play guitar and Dave finding his groove (which is somewhere between Doc Brown and a friendly wizard) 🪄
Track 10 and the final track on the album was written years after the first recording session
Those Goodbyes was meant to be a back up in the event we started whittling down older tracks that no longer felt like album contenders ✂️ But it quickly worked its way to the front of the queue when we trialled it at the end of the album with that outro 💥
Track 8 on the album is technically a cover of a country classic 🎧
However the idea to do a version of Satisfied Mind had been brewing for years after hearing Jeff Buckley’s version. He’s never been someone I can just pick up, listen to, enjoy and put down. Without fail I fire up this obsession I’ve had ever since hearing Grace for the first time 🎙️💜
So I was ecstatic when I ran an early version by the guys and in short order we had the beginnings of what you hear now 🌟
With our hat in the ring, we thought you might enjoy a little side by side…
S P O T T E D 🌝 at another Edinburgh institution
Before Cockburn Street officially became the tourists gateway to Edinburghland, the shops that lined it were a massive beacon for the alt kids with nowhere better to be on a Friday afternoon. Back then @underground.solution was as much a part of the scenery as Whiplash Trash and Route One. All of which made the street a one stop shop for goths, moshers, skaters and impressionable kids desperate to impress (me) 😎
Now coming up on their 30th birthday, the world may have shifted around it, but Underground still serves up the best in new and old records ❤️🔥 These days you’ll just have to shop online for your JNCO jeans, New Rocks and novelty pipes 🤘
💿 THE SCENE IS SPOTLESS 💿 is just over a month old now! Thank you to every one of you for all of your purchases and streams 🌞
Track 6 (In The Waves) was penned during our very first writing session for this album. You’ll hear some Bloc Party in the percussion, Interpol in the guitars and Foals in the arrangement 🥁
To greater or smaller detail these bands have left their mark on all 3 records and were massive drivers for us picking up our instruments in the first place 💕🌊
From DEEP in the vault - like skinny jeans, denim jacket and a rollie behind the ear deep 🚨🆒🚨
We meant to sit down and record this version of ‘Glass Lake’ properly at the time but Laurie was going through a phase of making delicious pitcher after delicious pitcher of caipiroska 🇧🇷 whenever we got together and the merriment got the better of us 🥴
Still maybe a future project now we’re all tea drinking geriatrics 🌝
We were woefully bad at documenting the early writing sessions for this album 🤦♂️ However if you’ve not seen it, our very good friend Tom Falanagan captured us plebbing around while recording album 2 🎈🌞
And tbf very little has changed... solemn mornings, graft in the afternoon and a fat dose of delirium before bed 👼 Do this for two weeks, then mix, edit and re-record over the next to 2-4 years, and hey presto you’ve got yourself an album! 🏆

PLAYLIST ALERT!! 🚨 LINK IN BIO!! Songs that inspired album #3… 💨 🍃 ⏳
“The Scene is Spotless” marked anther change in the way we work.
The first part of the writing was done as it always has been, in secluded locations around Scotland BUT the latter half was often written separately and then taken to the band to be finished in our studio at Lost Oscillation.
This playlist represents the change.
The songs here are a mixture of songs we grew up with and played to each other when we first met, which very much influenced the record - like Granddady’s ‘Now It’s On’.
The others are ones we listened to separately and didn’t even send around each other, but the band was still on our minds. Laurie for example took a road trip around California and reminisced with both new songs and old ones him and Fergus used to listen to on top of cupboards.
The songs bring everything full circle from when they started as a band, less electronic and more infused with the basic glue of what it means to be in a band.
Spotted in the wild, this time at @assaiedinburgh 🧡
Keith’s done an amazing job with the shops here and up in Dundee, making Assai somewhat of an institution in both cities. He’s also been very supportive of us and was quick to stock albums 1 and 2 when they came out 🙏
So if you’re in the West End pop your head in and have a browse 🔎 (that @hamishhawk album we’re sitting next to is a belter btw 🤫)
