Some rituals leave invisible scars. “The Unwearable Jewels” by AND THE NERVE! @andthenerve for the Centre for Human Rights exposes a quiet but painful reality: rights crossed out in the nikahnama, the Islamic marriage contract that guarantees women legal and religious protections. In Pakistan, weddings are celebrated with grandeur, but these omissions shape a woman’s life long after the ceremony ends. The campaign turns jewelry into a striking symbol of injustice, pieces embedded with thorns, impossible to wear, each detail reflecting what’s taken away so casually. A stark reminder that what we celebrate isn’t always harmless. Glad to have contributed to the case study and help amplify a message that challenges norms and sparks necessary conversations. This Women’s History Month, we’re proud to have launched a film for UN Women Pakistan, rooted deeply in local culture and insight. In Pakistan, wall-painted ads have long promised cures for male weakness or impotence. BBDO PAKISTAN and IMPACT BBDO reframed the idea in a very clever way, connecting these wall ads promising a so-called cure for male weakness with toxic masculinity. Told simply through the voices of everyday people on the street, the film calls out abuse and misogyny for what they truly are: weakness, not masculinity. A cultural pun with a serious purpose, sparking conversation, awareness, and change.
