This year, we’re hosting our first ‘Art on the Island’ workshops day on Saturday 30th May in the lovely Peter Trim Hall and we invite you to get creative with us. We’re also holding our first group studios private view 🥂(or launch party!) that evening - put the date in your calendar!
We’ve crafted a range of fun and interesting sessions and hope you can find something to enjoy. All sessions are bookable online, places are limited to 6 people per session - see links in bio & stories, or Dorset Art Weeks event page, for times and prices.

With Bananarama & Fun Boy 3 for some early 80s feels 😁
I have produced a series of small panoramic encaustic wax paintings of the Isle of Portland…this one is very close to where I live. The shed, dilapidated and being consumed by the undergrowth, shielding a now abandoned small stone quarry. One of the special places on Portland. I am taking part in @dorsetartweeks 23rd May to 7th June, and will be demonstrating fine art encaustic wax painting. Venue 127 in the Guide. St. George’s Studios. Reforne. HORSERADISH LINE & COLOUR Rough studies for my ongoing horseradish project 🍃 ♥️ using yellow and gold birthday card envelopes as collaged grounds. These are done 10 days apart: you can see how quickly it shoots up! Working bigger and looser, with one drawing in the comfort zone of fineliner and neocolor II crayon (and a motley selection of pencils, including Derwent Intense and new fave Graphitint), the other using a bit of pink neocolor II crayon underdrawing then Unison Botanical set soft pastels and more pencil, neocolor II and conté crayon.
Trying to do colour and shape rather than line, in the second drawing, as the golden hour light changes rapidly between 4 - 5.30pm! All useful for my experimental studio screenprint and monoprint prep for #dorsetartweeks which I am really looking forward to.
Brick patio: artists’ own, needs some attention, rather than being ignored whilst drawing.
Plus, some nice ‘Shiny, Happy People’ by REM for some early 90s cheer - I heard this on repeat during the month of July in Portugal 1991, when I stayed for a month in a 2 man tent in a campsite, near the beautiful surf spot of Ericeira. Also where I first enjoyed Magnum icecreams, so novel. The chocolate was definitely thicker on the continent!
