Still kinda surreal… skating the small banks 40+ years after I first followed @harryjumonji there at 15—and after they sat unskateable for 22 years.
Last weekend felt like the 80s/90s all over again. Generations mixing, the session flowing. Big love to @rodneytorresnyc@pink__ranger for filming and being a part of it.
Grateful doesn’t even cover it. This spot means a lot to our culture.
Respect to everyone who helped bring it back to life especially @gothamparknyc@theskateparkproject@vansskate@justin_villano_ • Like @mctkep says “Brooklyn Bridge Banks forever”
Luckiest skateboarder in the world today. Skated with @tonyhawk at the #brooklynbanks this morning. I was always the guy who you saw your first time at the Banks and the fact it was Tony and @alec_beck ‘s first time made me smile. Took so many people to make this happen but it never would have happened without Tony and the crew at @theskateparkproject As always special shout out to @hi_rok_o@shikirodriguez_ Rosa Chang and my team at our non profit @gothamparknyc • @justin_villano_and the team at @vansskate • Meera Joshi, Former Deputy Mayor • @yating28 , Chief public realm officer • James Archer, Senior Advisor - Parks and Transportation • Ydanis Rodriguez, NYC DOT Commissioner. THANK YOU! Can’t wait until the Big Banks is completely done and open! Should be soon!!!
Beyond hyped that UNA Sports Group is now part of X Games Club New York.
What we’re building with XCNY was already something really special to me — bringing together world class athletes, competition, culture, and New York energy into something authentic. But having a group like UNA come in and believe in the vision takes it to another level.
Andrew, Del, David, and Ted understand athletes, culture, storytelling, and long-term vision — not just logos and sponsorships. That matters. Excited for the partnership and opportunities ahead.
New York has always done things differently. XCNY will too.
So hyped on this photo of @antclaravall —him with @chlo_the_flo . I’ve known Claravall since the 90s, a true NY OG who filmed me for the 411VM NYC Metrospective in 1994… which at the time felt like a dream just to be part of. Seeing him now with Chloe—my #1 draft pick for @xgames_newyork —is wild. Full circle. Past, present, future all in one frame. 📷 @davehoang
“This is what the banks was all about!
Pushing as fast as you can and skating like it was never going to exist tomorrow! These were the days and this place is everything to me, friendships were made sessions were had and everyday that we can skate it, it was heaven!
BBB FOREVER!” - No truer words spoken by @mctkep
Small Banks is fully open.
Hard to even explain what this means to our culture.
22 years in the making—since 2004, when I first pulled up and it was locked behind a fence.
Appreciate everyone who helped bring this back—
@gothamparknyc • @tonyhawk • @benjaminbashein • @alec_beck@theskateparkproject • @justin_villano_ • @vansskate
And everyone who showed up, spoke up, wrote letters, started a petition, signed petitions, and kept pushing—this belongs to you too.
Respect the space. Respect the history.
And please… don’t pee at the Banks. Walk a block. 🙏🏽 #brooklynbanks
I want it to be better. Like it used to be. I want my son and his kids to ride here and feel what I felt coming up. @gothamparknyc@theskateparkproject@vansskate let’s try to make it happen. #smallbanks #brooklynbanks
Bring back the 90s 🧱 🛹
Reminiscing the Brooklyn Banks 🥺 Fast Forward to 2026, The Small Banks is being restored and will reopen soon to the public. We can’t wait to relive it!
