Last July, I made the conscious decision to post daily LEGO content on Instagram. I’ve been asked by friends, “Do you make money doing this? If you’re not getting paid, then why do it? It seems like a lot of work for nothing.”
Building LEGO, thinking about LEGO, talking about LEGO, making reels about LEGO—it truly is a passion of mine. I think if I wasn’t as passionate about it as I am, I would have given up months ago.
It’s hard work trying to create unique, inspirational, and (hopefully) funny content. Sometimes I can spend hours, countless takes (one time, a reel took me over 100 takes to get just right)—all for the hope that the 10 seconds you watch left some kind of impact on you.
I want to be an original in the LEGO community. Someone who contributes and puts their own unique stamp on the hobby. It can be absolutely draining trying to come up with an idea that stands out from all of the other LEGO content out there. It can even be depressing at times, wondering why what I thought was unique and different is struggling to get seen; while the other stuff that’s been done hundreds of times, the exact same way, is thriving.
But, when it’s all said and done, I do this because I enjoy doing it. No, I don’t get paid. I’m not endorsed. I receive nothing from this other than getting to interact with all of you! That’s what it’s all about for me. I do it to inspire. I do it to make you laugh. I do it to make you cry (in the good way)—although, I’ve probably made some cry out of pain from watching, I’m sure 😂
If you’ve been watching my stuff for days, or months—no matter how long; and you haven’t reached out to me, feel free to comment in my reels, leave me a HEY in my posts. For those of you who have, please continue to! LEGO is such a fun hobby, and it’s a better experience when you do it with together with friends!
I hope my passion for the hobby comes through in my content, and that it was worth your time! 🖖🏻
