After a violent incident on a farm, a cowherd and his wife are driven into Brazil’s drought-stricken backlands, caught between religious fanaticism, outlaw violence, and survival as a hired gunman closes in. Directed by Glauber Rocha, the film helped define the Cinema Novo movement in Brazil in the early 1960s.
This screening uses the Radiance Films release, restored from the original 35mm negative and projected in 1080p. Mark your calendars!
The Exterminating Angel is Luis Buñuel’s savage surreal dismantling of wealth, ritual, and social power. After a lavish dinner, a group of elites find themselves inexplicably unable to leave the room, as decorum collapses into panic and cruelty.
We’ll be screening the 4K restoration from Radiance Films’ Nothing Is Sacred: Three Heresies by Luis Buñuel box set, sourced from original film elements and presenting one of the defining works of Buñuel’s Mexican period.
