This is the project.
The one that’s frankly holding everything else back.
When I’m not I’m writing, for myself or for a client, I’m working on this. When I’m not producing, short projects here and there or feature projects that are still in development, I’m working on this. When I’m not sick or injured, I’m working on this. When I’m not parenting my kiddos or managing the house alongside my shares-the-mental load husband, I’m working on this.
I can’t not finish it.
The oldest footage in this doc is from 2014. The latest will be from this year. But the content is universal and unfortunately still relevant as it was over a decade ago.
The statistics haven’t changed.
The issues are still prevalent.
The story still needs to be told.
So many of my other personal projects are on hold while I focus most of my creative strength on finishing this doc. If you’ve been following me for a while you know it’s been the story of my life for a few years now. But every step gets me closer.
For years the hardest thing has been cutting down the a-roll cut.
My first string out was 33 hours. 🫣
But I’ve got an a-roll cut now that I feel comfortable with so I’m layering in b-roll, sound-up scenes, and temp score.
Whew! It’s been a process.
But today I’m feeling hopeful that I’ll have a locked cut this year. So I’m celebrating with a post.

I love directing the live stream for my church community! Been serving for over four years in this capacity and it’s been such a blessing to be a part of this team. I train and schedule the camera operators and other directors and do my best to help bring professionalism to all the looks and processes. Grateful!! 💛☺️

When I say I “grew up in the 90s” I really mean it. I went from 5th grade to my first two years of university!!
I tried so many things! Drama club, hockey, basketball, debate club, missions, piano, singing, leading worship at church, dance, musicals, sign language performance! I was busy! Even got those braces off and started wearing contacts! But one thing I locked in, my signature hairstyle. 😂
Today, I tell my kids, “try everything once!” (If it’s safe, obviously.) You never know what you’re gonna like or be good at!
Going through old photos was a lovely blessing for me. I remembered wonderful friends who I’ve lost. I remembered friends I’ve still got that I need to call. And I remembered that little girl who had such hope for the future. She was brave. She was practically fearless. I’m letting her give me strength today as I keep working toward my goals…

One of my favourite places to hike is the Coastal Trail in Chance Cove, Newfoundland! It’s a perfectly challenging trail that rewards the hiker with an abundance of beautiful views. You could spent an hour to several hours here enjoying all the views and coves and side trails!
After your hike, head a little deeper into Chance Cove to IJ Smith’s store and grab something to drink or some ice cream before heading on your way!
