Dusting off the ol’ reliable. Happy New Year, everyone! Hope those resolutions are going smoothly so far. Here are some flicks from my recent NYC trip.
"Captured and frozen in time. The Leica M6 allows me to move freely without missing a beat.
In a fast paced city, fleeting moments will happen before our eyes. As a photographer in an unknown environment, I don’t know what would appear in front of me so I constantly have to think to myself, “snap and move.”
As I’m shooting film, I don’t fixate on whether if I’ve gotten the perfect lighting, focus or composition. What I do know is that I was present in that moment, feeling the emotions I felt before photographing the scene.
Japan is a beautiful place. There is a picture perfect opportunity in every direction you turn. From strangers in a subway, to residents roaming the streets; breathtaking architecture and enchanting landscapes. There is something for everyone here. While spending my time in this country, delving into every nook and cranny, I can’t help but to wonder, “What goes on in everyone’s lives?” Every individual has a story to share and the Leica M6 lets me take a peek into a different world organically."

More than half way through the year and I’ve never felt more productive. Meeting people, creating new memories, accomplishing goals and experiencing what the world has to offer. I often tell myself to slow down from all the work, the expectations, and to take it easy on myself. Needless to say, it’s been an ongoing journey.
Out of everything I’ve learned thus far, here is what I’d like to leave you with:
Amongst the chaos, you can still find peace. Just keep it simple. Go out, away from the noise and enjoy life. Nothing more to it.

Thank you @vanaqua for the wonderful experience. Being immersed by the wildlife felt like I was transported into another world. The rainforest section definitely caught my attention and I never thought I’d get to befriend a baby monkey.

Let’s be honest, it’s not a Stephon post if I’m not being a nerd about photography. Shout out to @leica_camera for creating incredible tools that allow me to bring my artistic vision to life with ease. The Leica Q3 made my worries of photographing indoors under unideal lighting a thing of the past.

The act of creating is part of the art, no matter how easy the art is. The one who took the step to do it is an artist and created valid art.
The Leica 35mm f/1.4 Summilux-M “Steel Rim.”
Strap in for another blog style post because I’m a camera nerd.
I was provided a wonderful opportunity to shoot with one of the greatest lenses reissued by @leica_camera from the 1960’s. With its unique image rendering, the “Steel Rim” earned its title, “True King of Bokeh,” and rightfully so.
I’ve always been captivated in the 35mm focal length. Coming from my background in environmental portrait photography and cinematography, I have been enamored in the “soft” and “dreamy” feel in images. Vintage lenses seem to tug my heartstrings in a way because they provide exactly what I’m looking for.
Took this lens on a spin with the one and only, Leica M11 to photograph some classic Japanese cars. What a fitting subject right?
A car from the 90’s: timeless, reliable and built to last. Sounds a lot like something I was photographing with. This lens is not perfect, but it sure has a lot of character.
You’ll see the sharpest photographs with stunning detail, captured by the latest and greatest tools. You may even see things from the opposite side of the spectrum. Ironically, I believe imperfections are truly what makes things perfect.

It’s always fun going back to my portraiture roots and seeing how much my style has changed over the years. Shooting with people has always been my favorite simply due to human interaction. Whether if I’m working with new or familiar faces, I find myself feeling inspired all over again.
That said, big ol’ congratulations to Jenny in becoming a Doctor of Physical Therapy! We’re very proud of you and all your accomplishments. I am excited to see what the future looks like for you moving forward!
