As Pride Month ends, Disability Pride Month starts. As the Supreme Court celebrated the former by making the country less navigable for LGBTQ+ folks, they seem poised to celebrate this month by further defanging the ADA. The ADA was already incredibly insufficient in pre-pandemic times. Now, with the air quality as consistently bad as it is, and as we go on with the most progressive 2024 Democratic policy about Covid being “let’er rip,” more and more people are going to need the ADA. Doctors offices are already ignoring it when people make official ADA requests to mask up for visits. So include us in your activism, if not for us, then for you, because you could be with us sooner than you think.
It’s been a not great couple of weeks, but one of the things keeping me going is the joy of being in the audience for @fromhomefest and the honor of being a participant in it this year. We have one more show, tomorrow at 4, and there’s still so much more to check out from the Fest, both scheduled and asynchronous, and all of it Pay What You Can! Link in my bio.
The world is on fire, but if I don’t self-promo my work then no one will.
Come watch 2 wonderful performers play 8 characters as we explore part of why the world is as aflame as it is in this comedic virtual play!
And check out the rest of the From Home Fest, a bunch of wonderful folks doing a bunch of wonderful things!
Shabbat shalom!
The idea that a Muslim being put in charge of a city is anything to worry about amid a demonstrable rise in christofascism worldwide is sociopolitically illiterate and ahistorical.
If you’re scared of Mamdani more than the actual Nazis running and influencing the American government and raiding American cities, then you have biases to unpack. Alternately, you can just admit you’re okay with fascism, which is to say, you are a fascist.

🛒 Here in end stage capitalism, it can sometimes feel like we’re going in circles. The people with
all the money are ruining everything, and they’re all starting to look like the same two people. A
virtual play written for Skype that has to be presented, coincidentally, on Zoom. Here in end
stage capitalism it can sometimes feel like we’re going in circles...

It’s been a bit and I’ve been distracted and depressed, but I’m happily showing off my @comixmonger haul.

RIP Athol Fugard, a playwright whose work was figuratively and literally revolutionary. May American theater rise to meet the bar he set.
It is miraculous that he has gotten into neoliberal academic syllabi despite this. The chair of the playwriting department from my would-be alma mater (which has its own supremacist issues it barely addresses) elected to teach "My Children! My Africa!" while simultaneously helping the school to push me out amid an ongoing pandemic, partly inspiring me to write this response to the text.
