[comic 👉] Have you seen this on the @guardian website?? I only ask because as a subscriber I cannot trigger it to see it on the page. It is an ad that I made for them that appears to non-subscribers so I can never make it appear.
Thanks to the ever-patient Will Dean who asked me to think of something years ago and I took ages, as everything I came up with just didn't work as an advert.
Then I had the idea for doing this rather meta thing with you X interface elements going on a date. The joke is generally targeted at people who come to the website website to read Blind Date (that's a lot of people), so they visit the site often enough to get the reference, but don't pay to support the Guardian. At least, I hope people get it. I had a lot of fun doing it.

The brilliant @itsrayning_ and @comicsyouth asked me to talk about a time when I'd nearly given up making comics. My immediate answer was "7am every Tuesday when I'm having a deadline breakdown cos I haven't thought of anything", but then I thought a bit more and gave a proper answer (next image).
It's difficult to keep going at something which doesn't initially pay enough, and maybe never will. I think we have the impulse to see ourselves as all or nothing, whole identity consumed as one 'job' or talent, or it isn't real. I think that's rubbish. And I think it's important to give yourself a break from feeling like that and value yourself, whatever your creative interest is.
Tl;dr: there is no such thing as a 'side hustle'. We are just humans doing lots of things until we die

Second time lucky! This was an interesting challenge - reproduce a painting commission you’ve already done and delivered once but has been destroyed by @anpostofficial . First image is the repainted version, last image is the first one, scanned before the postie stabbed it with a spike.
I delivered this second one by hand to the subject when she visited London - not posting this again. It was actually quite an interesting technical exercise, and I think it turned out better second time round. Most of all though i’m just very pleased she finally got her painting! (Always insure your artwork deliveries properly, artists)

This one was for last Saturday's @ft_houseandhome about plans to turn London's lesser-used (and massive) golf courses into housing. So I had this fun idea to do it as a kind of crazy golf course, but with full-size houses. It's a good article too, have a read.
Appropriately enough to the subject, this job required planning to redesign it for mobile, in different dimensions, which is a fun little design challenge. It means drawing all the elements on separate layers, and thinking ahead so that you have an illustration concept which is able to be reconfigured into a square shape.
So anyway yeah, commission me for illustration, I am keen and able and friendly!
