As part of my residency “Inspiration Bénin - Au Coeur des Mondes Africains” I held yesterday a public conversation
@kulturforum_sud_nord and presented my ongoing research project titled les Objets-Rêves” (Dream-Objects) with my first works created here in Benin.
This project explores how objects can embody the spirits of those who have passed away, and how, through ritual objects, we can nurture and maintain the bond of love that unites us with our dead.
During my stay here, I created drawings, clay sculptures, and objects made of beads and natural materials. Together, they form an installation reminiscent of altars.
I was inspired by the cult of twins and the Asen huts, which are part of Beninese culture. These traditions resonated with my own Cameroonian culture, where we give special importance to our dead.
Thank you to my partners
@stephan.kohler and
@georges.adeagbo for their warm welcome and kindness throughout this project.
It was a pleasure to have you by my side, and to learn from such a great artist.
Thank you to
@simo_o2801 and
@franquindedji for your invaluable help during the installation.
Thank you to the one and only
@nadineh_jackiesp for this entire adventure.
And to
@arabaplogan for hosting me here.
Thank you to everyone who came to discover my world yesterday.
