The private view of (be)longing film, 23rd April 2026. Watching some of the incredible dancers watching their scenes and the whole film for the very first time will live long in my memory. Above the fact being in my first gallery exhibition, the emotional impact of feeling seen and understood in a room with those who had joined me on my journey of processing my whole life through the lens of my diagnosis - this was special. To have been that vulnerable and have that vulnerability also shown by their own performances - that felt like I was no longer alone in my ‘strangeness’. Proud of myself for loudly shushing this woman talking inane asininity during this first screening. Sharing some humorous aspects and having the aims of this work validated made it worth all the suffering behind the scenes I masked and endured during the shoots and edits, making me realise I don’t have to do everything on my own. The biggest takeaway was that making art, of whatever sort, is healing. When you get to know the world through yourself, this process of discovery teaches you so much. And I am thankful to have had this opportunity. Thank you to @londonsdancer for taking the photos and getting us to show our fun side! And to Inge for taking the video of me introducing the dancers to each other. #art #autism #dance

reminiscing on my time at @siobhandaviesstudios for their 6 month choreography programme. In deep gratitude to @steph___ll for her poetic review of my movement piece for my first feature in @danceartjournal 🌹 “Lament for Indengo” is a choreographic work I composed in light of the death of Delcat Indengo, a Congolese musician and activist who was killed last year in military crossfire during the recording of a music video in Goma. Indengo’s work was predicated upon speaking light upon his nation, rebelling against political censorship, and breathing fire into the youth. Some say it was an assassination, others, a tragic collateral.. either way, it was a reminder that as our prophets continue to fall, the persistence of their legacy is dependent on the enduring weaving of our voices into a vessel that can uphold their fights. Or at least to be an offering of their remembrance.

Over the last 8 months I’ve worked with over 40 incredible dancers, choreographers and performers to explore my shock late diagnosis of autism. Over 90 minutes, I use music, movement and words to convey aspects of my experience, blended with many of the participants’, who are mainly neurodivergent too. Join me on April 23rd at @bethlemgallery for the private view and first ever showing of the film. It’s from 5-8pm and will remain there as part of the (be)longing exhibition led by the amazing @danielreganphotography with the massive talents of @ninagrossartist alongside us till the 11th of July. Music: ‘Butterfly Belly’ by Joy Winter. Cello: Angela Shredder Home demo recorded and mixed by Michael Mendones Please note the tagged audio references an unauthorised release of this track that was unfinished - I did not give consent to that version as I was not happy with it. This is still a demo version that I’ve polished as much as I can given we recorded it in my living room! #dance #dancer #autism
