STEMunity was delighted to support Sandhill View Academy on Monday 27th April 2026 with a Big Bang at Schools event, sponsored by EngineeringUK. Students took part in a brilliant range of STEM activities exploring neuroscience, artificial intelligence, invention and future careers. Newcastle University Outreach delivered their Brain Game workshop, where students learned about the different lobes of the brain, created wearable brain caps and took part in hands-on activities to explore how the brain affects behaviour and cognition. Tech She Can, in partnership with Accenture, delivered their Regenerative AI Roadshow, giving students the chance to explore real-world uses of artificial intelligence, ethical questions and careers in technology. Kids Invent Stuff inspired students through an interactive assembly and creative design workshops, helping them understand how ideas can become real inventions and future careers in engineering. Last week we supported Leeds City Academy in Leeds in running a Big Bang at Schools event sponsored by Engineering UK . 200 young people in Y8 took part in a huge range of activities from making fruit batteries with National Grid to learning how to be an entrepreneur with Cirkits. Chinyereugo Chikere from University of York explored AI and machine learning. Students also designed, made and launched water in a STEMunity Build Lab workshop and developed sustainable cities using our fantastic EcoCity resource. 🚀 Today marks International Day of Human Space Flight 2026! To celebrate, let us introduce you to spacesuit designer Vinita Marwaha Madill who attended our 5PARK: Space celebration! Vinita dreamed about being an astronaut from a young age and went on to design a space suit.
