The idea of this bottom cheese plate spawned from the need of dead center weight due to having a light ranger and MDR that made an already top heavy camera heavier on top. I understand it goes against the current balancing method, but when weight is added to the back of the camera to counter that top weight, I then have to make adjustments for that weight. In addition, I have to make concessions of what length of weight I can use. That weight in the back can prevent me from rolling the camera while tilting through the head and most times I need more than 150g of counter weight. I can now place the camera where I need it in the ring and not have to spend time trying to find alternative spots for counter balance. @apexcinemagear came up with a great way to accomplish this.
Been able to use the @tiffencompany G-70x2 for the past week. With its new lift and ride knobs making easier to adjust as well as the updated socket block, it’s been such a great addition to my kit. Coupled with @walterklassenfx flex harness and it’s 3” carbon arm drop down, this has been a wonderful combo to allow me to get lower with the @arri Trinity 2 and quick, on the fly adjustments. @css.forum@fomasystems@societyofcameraoperators
Las Vegas/Chicago/Mexico. What a whirlwind of the past 3 weeks! Got to operate on my 1st Super Bowl. Did some Trinity work in Chicago, then gave some Trinity Training in Mexico. Got to work with familiar faces I haven’t seen in a long time as well as new ones. Thank you to the operators, @televisa and @cinetec_mx for all of your hospitality! This first picture was my very 1st skycam job as an operator. Never shot a frame of sports in my life and It was a sink or swim situation. If the director didn’t like me, I wouldn’t have had a job for the football season. 12 years later, I have been fortunate enough to check Super Bowl and Super Bowl Halftime show off my list. We had a total of 29 technicians, pilots, riggers and operators for this game. Many of which I hadn’t seen in decades. It was a mixture of people who mentored me and people I mentored. The guys worked their asses off to have 3 aerial systems in the stadium and two robo cams. Without their hard work and expertise, our systems wouldn’t have been so successful. It’s been a rough couple of weeks, but I got to come home to this!! Ellie and I (more me😜) get to geek out and decorate the tree!!! Discovered these @hallmarkkeepsakeornaments a couple years ago and now, instead of watching the movie, I stare at my tree for 10-15min and the movie plays out like an old radio show while each ornament lights up when their dialogue happens.
