Today, May 16th, I am celebrating my birthday by dedicating my voice to a cause close to my heart. It is World Boy Child Day, and as part of my #LeadAnSDG initiative under the UN SDSN Youth Nigeria SDGs Advocate Programme (Cohort 8), I am proud to launch this campaign in collaboration with Shield the Child Foundation.
This awareness video focuses on SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 3 (Good Health & Well-being). For too long, the silence of the boy child has been mistaken for strength. True peace and justice mean protecting our boys from sexual abuse and ensuring they have a safe space to speak up.
To every boy child out there: Help is here. You are not to blame, and you do not have to carry this pain alone. Please watch, share this video to create awareness, and reach out to the numbers on your screen to report abuse or seek support.

Abusers often hide behind compliments and “generosity” to build a false sense of trust. She highlights why it’s crucial to report any adult who:
1. Insists on a private friendship.
2. Gives gifts that they want kept secret.
3. Uses “love” or “family” terms to cross boundaries.
Parents & Guardians: Use this video as a conversation starter with your children. Let them know that it is always the adult’s responsibility to maintain boundaries—never the child’s.

Shielding the Heart, Protecting the Future 🛡️
Our youths are navigating heavy emotional burdens, and they shouldn’t have to do it alone.
Shield the Child Foundation, in collaboration with USGEAA, recently hosted a vital mental health and sexual abuse awareness session at the Full Life Youth Conference to equip our youths with the psychological and emotional support they need to thrive in a complex world.
