Today, May 16th, I am celebrating my birthday by dedicating my voice to a cause close to my heart. It is World Boy Child Day, and as part of my #LeadAnSDG initiative under the UN SDSN Youth Nigeria SDGs Advocate Programme (Cohort 8), I am proud to launch this campaign in collaboration with Shield the Child Foundation. This awareness video focuses on SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 3 (Good Health & Well-being). For too long, the silence of the boy child has been mistaken for strength. True peace and justice mean protecting our boys from sexual abuse and ensuring they have a safe space to speak up. To every boy child out there: Help is here. You are not to blame, and you do not have to carry this pain alone. Please watch, share this video to create awareness, and reach out to the numbers on your screen to report abuse or seek support. Let’s protect their future together. šŸ•ŠļøšŸ›”ļø Voice over artist @bishopdeletaiwo @miss_mheee Picture credit with consent @afro6ixjaara Script writer @miss_mheee Content creator @uduak_shotit #WorldBoyChildDay #SDG16 #LeadAnSDGInitiative #shieldthechildngo anabuserwillsay thewilltheytookfromuswehaveitnow

We are proud to share this insightful video by one of our dedicated volunteers, as part of the #AnAbuserOnceSaid online campaign. Abusers often hide behind compliments and ā€œgenerosityā€ to build a false sense of trust. She highlights why it’s crucial to report any adult who: 1. Insists on a private friendship. 2. Gives gifts that they want kept secret. 3. Uses ā€œloveā€ or ā€œfamilyā€ terms to cross boundaries. Parents & Guardians: Use this video as a conversation starter with your children. Let them know that it is always the adult’s responsibility to maintain boundaries—never the child’s. Stay safe. Stay informed. #shieldthechildngo #anabuseroncesaid #stcf #fightagainstsexualabuse

It is heartbreaking to imagine a student’s hard work coming to a standstill simply because of a deadline and a fee. No child should have to walk away from their exams—and their future—because they cannot afford the cost of admission. We arrived just twenty-four hours before the NABTEB deadline to ensure these bright minds stayed in the race. Seeing the weight lift off their shoulders is a reminder that when we show up for them, we are shielding the leaders of tomorrow. #shieldthechildngo #anabuserwillsay #stcf #thewilltheytookfromuswehaveitnow fightagainstsexuala

Shielding the Heart, Protecting the Future šŸ›”ļø Our youths are navigating heavy emotional burdens, and they shouldn’t have to do it alone. But we aren’t stopping there. ā¬‡ļø šŸ“ Next Stop: Ukana Outreach We are bringing the RED CARD movement to the grassroots to ā€œSay NO to Sexual Abuseā€ and ā€œYESā€ to a safer future. • šŸ—“ļø Date: April 21st, 2026 • šŸ« Venue: Community Secondary School, Ukana • ✨ Activities: Awareness sessions, SRHR: Understanding Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, GBV: Strategies for ending Gender-Based Violence. My cousin is a happy child, very happy but there’s something I’ve noticed about him. Prior to his tenth birthday, I had this habit of personally choosing birthday gifts for him. Initially, he use to show excitement but as he grew older, I watched that smile of curiosity and excitement fade on his birthdays. So this time around, for the first time I decided to ask him: What do you want for your birthday? Him: A phone Me: What for? Him: I will love to learn video editing Me: Okay. I saved for it and got him a phone. For the first time he cried tears of joy, excited and even showered blessings on me. Me: Why are you this happy? I have never seen you this happy on your birthday. Him: You finally got me what I want. Me: So is this why you never used the bike I got you last year. Him: Yes the bike was beautiful but Aunty I didn’t really need a bike. I have been praying for this phone and I promise I will use it. This post is not about my cousin, neither is it about me. It’s about advocates: people who have the heart to profer solution to problems in villages, communities and children. The only way to make impact is to ensure sure the beneficiaries are actually in need of it and would prefer your specific approach to that situation. Sometimes we think we know exactly what they need but give them that benefit of doubt and always ask: 1. How do you perceive this problem? 2. Do you think this is the most pressing issue to solve? 3. Do you think this solution is what you are hoping to receive? And then you incorporate their answers into a program and execute it. Then watch their excitement like that of my cousin. I hope you fully understood my explanation šŸ™ˆ now comment you did so I can pass this assessment, my tutors are watching šŸ‘€ #SDGsAdvocateProgramme #Cohort8 #MasterclassSeries #SDSNYouth #SDSNNigeria ImpactInAction
