Making Nori (Making Paste)
2025 | 36" x 48" | Acrylic on canvas
The first of 5 new paintings that I created for Katazomé: A Multidisciplinary Visual Art Exhibition at @galleryca . This painting was inspired by a photograph that my mother, Donna took in the Katazomé workshop where she studied in Japan in the 1970s and 1980s.
We will be hosting two artist talks at the gallery on Saturday May 16 & 30 from 2-5PM and invite you all to join us!
The exhibition will be on view until May 30 and gallery hours are Monday-Friday 12-4pm and by appointment (call/text 443-370-4684). Please refer to my previous post for the exhibition flyer and additional information.

From SNF Parkway to Currency Studio, Dylan brought Shoes at the Door to life; connecting peacock chairs, Filipino anglicization, glow‑in‑the‑dark stars, and the women whose stories ground some of the work on display. We watched everyday materials like pistachio shells and star anise transform into art, revealing how hospitality, memory, and diaspora take shape. The walk ended at Gallery CA for Katazomé, a moving look at cultural roots, intergenerational creativity and legacy.
Asia North 2026 continues with more powerful programming including Regie Cabico’s Sticky Stars and Sheets, a spoken‑word performance confronting queerphobia with humor, lyricism, and heart. We’re also gearing up for K‑Town Culture Day, featuring a Koreatown walking tour, live performances, a community panel on Baltimore Koreatown’s past, present, and future, and a reception with free Korean food.
