Primitive Isolation Tactics is Taylor Geddes, of Scream and Writhe and the Absurd Exposition label.
Geddes is show promoter and curator of “Initial Shock” in MTL. P.I.T. delves straight into harsh, crunching, blown-out tape/metal textures and slams them up against sputtering and crackling equipment. This is part of the beauty of P.I.T.’s style: the listener is presented with a buffet of harsh textures not linked to a single sub-genre of Harsh Noise.
For the past decade, Edmonton's Brandi Strauss has been creating sound-works under the Static Control moniker, flying the flag of drone, ambient and noise. She represents one half of local post punk and minimal synth heroes Rhythm of Cruelty. As a multidisciplinary artist, she is further known for her extensive work in the realm of collage art. Static Control wields offbeat sequences, gritty drones, subtle ambience and noise with ease, examining the ominous elements of humanity, and questioning how we continue to co-exist with the natural world - despite its chaos. Her recorded work has been published by Pseudo Laboratories and Aught/Void in recent years, she is a dedicated promoter of Art-Events in Edmonton.
K.M. Toepfer is a sound art and noise performer inspired by intrapersonal and interpersonal communication, social cognition and sensory perception processes, altered states of information processing, and intuition. Toepfer’s work has most recently been released on labels such as White Centipede Noise and AAD. He operates Lead Lozenges.
