National Health Insurance Authority - NHIA , The Gambia Sets 2026 Priorities at Stakeholder Convergence
The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has outlined its key priorities for 2026, focusing on expanding services, securing sustainable financing, strengthening legal reforms, and improving access to healthcare, during its Stakeholder Convergence held on 12th and 13th January.
Speaking at the convergence, NHIA leadership highlighted the steady progress of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), which has expanded from 13 to over 70 contracted health facilities nationwide, benefiting more than 50,000 women and newborns. Over 500,000 people have also registered for NHIS cards since rollout.
Key priorities include reaching more rural communities, ensuring predictable funding, amending the NHIS Act to introduce mandatory contributions, and removing administrative barriers to access. The convergence ended with a call for continued collaboration to build a strong, inclusive, and sustainable health insurance system for The Gambia.
As part of IMCTC’s global efforts across all domains, the strategic military initiative (Competence) continues to advance its activities through intensive field training in the capital of the Republic of The Gambia. The program includes tactical exercises, live-fire drills, and simulated combat scenarios designed to enhance the capabilities of counterterrorism forces. A total of 25 trainees from the Ministry of Defence and 25 from the Ministry of Interior are participating in the program. This strategic initiative was launched earlier this month in the presence of IMCTC Secretary General and the Gambian Minister of Defence

We were entrusted with a major challenge, providing event management, audiovisual production, staging and branding, administrative, and logistics support for the 12th Edition of the Merck Foundation Africa Asia Luminary 2025, held in Banjul, The Gambia.
This event had been in the works for almost a year, and it was no small task. But with our dedicated team and trusted partners, we went above and beyond to deliver an exceptional two-day event flawlessly executed, with every detail on point.

As The Gambia National Assembly gears up to host the 54th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Africa Regional Conference from August 10th to 16th, 2025, preparations are in full swing at Sir Dawda Int’l Conference Center.
This high-level conference, themed “Strengthening Democratic Governance and Resilience in Africa: Tackling Conflicts, Economic Shocks, and Climate Risks,” will bring together distinguished parliamentarians and delegates from across the continent.
The event will feature regional workshops and presentations, Executive Committee sessions, and regional meetings.
The Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre is honoured to once again serve as the venue for a gathering of such regional significance.
