It's time for a commissioner highlight! Today, we're recognizing Andrea Louie, who works as a commissioner of New York State Commission on National and Community Service (@newyorkers_volunteer ). "I have served as a Commissioner in New York State for almost ten years. But as far back as my college years, I was always volunteering for local and community initiatives. Especially as a Chinese American woman who grew up in rural Ohio, I was eager to "find my tribe" when I moved to New York City in my 20s; serving the AAPI as well as arts and culture community has always been deeply important to me. In my current service journey, I particularly want to make sure that a voice is in the room representing a perspective from the diverse AAPI network. I am proud to serve in the national service field because I am a child of immigrants, and I have the luxury of being able to give back to my community and to my country." #AmeriCorps #StateService

ASC serves on the Advisory Council in partnership with Points of Light to develop a National Volunteer Strategy. Over the past six months, we’ve been working alongside leaders across sectors to better understand how volunteering is evolving and where the system needs to adapt. Volunteering strengthens communities and connects people to purpose. But how it is structured and supported today is not keeping pace with how people want to engage or what organizations need to sustain it. This Progress Report reflects what we’ve learned so far. It is one step in a broader effort to help shape a stronger, more connected future for volunteering, with more to come. Take a closer look and be part of what comes next: /reimagining-service/#progress-report #ReimaginingService2035 #NVW2026 #NVW

Why do we celebrate Public Service Recognition Week? 1. To celebrate dedication, integrity, and perseverance 2. To reaffirm the value of service over self 3. To inspire the next generation of changemakers Public servants are the backbone of our democracy, delivering vital services that keep our communities safe, strong and prosperous. From ensuring clean water to responding to disasters, the nation’s 2 million career federal civil servants across the country work every day to serve the public good. We're honored to recognize their invaluable contributions during #PSRW2026. Learn more at psrw.org.

America’s Service Commissions was proud to join Oklahoma AmeriCorps in Tulsa this week for a convening on service, hosted by Carnegie Corporation of New York and the George Kaiser Family Foundation. With national, state, and local leaders at the table, the conversation focused on what it takes to scale service, build strong cross-sector partnerships, and develop a playbook that can be adapted in communities nationwide. We were energized by the momentum and grateful to contribute to shaping what’s next for service in Tulsa. #StateService #AmeriCorps

On this #IdealistDay, we are excited to share Zack's story of service! 🌟 Zack Huffman, a proud resident of Little Rock, Arkansas, served with Teach For America in the Greater Delta. In his community, he sees service taking shape in so many inspiring ways: 🍎 Teachers staying long after the school day is over to go the extra mile for young people. 📚 College students stepping up to tutor elementary students in reading and math. 🪴 Friends "gnoming" the neighborhood and building community through block-by-block street cleanups. Zack’s service year teaching in the Mississippi Delta altered the trajectory of his life for the good. It helped him build confidence, develop new skills, and taught him how to show up when his community needs it most. As part of our #OurAmericanStory campaign, we want to hear from YOU! What does service look like in your community? /OurAmericanStory
