Thunderdome.
This was a big deal. The biggest of deals, to be more precise.
I’m not exactly a party-goer, so if I’d ever visit Thunderdome it would most likely be as a a performing artist. This year, that finally happened. A dream come true ever since I as a kid got hold of my first bootleg Thunderdome CD (XVI to be precise).
Being billed as the opening act in the Dark Dome, I expected to start in front of a half empty area, and planned my set accordingly. When I got to the stage however, I was surprised to see 75% of The Dreamteam already on stage (unannounced), hammering out gabber classics at 200 BPM to a packed dance floor.
Needless to say, my 117 BPM doomcore opening was quite the contrast!
I’m extremely happy with my set and song curation – doom and darkness for huge spaces, without compromise. And playing And Hell Followed again for the first time in almost 20 years really turned things full circle.
It was a bit hard to see the crowd from the stage, but watching the videos afterwards absolutely blows my mind. I had no idea how packed it really was. THANK YOU DOOM TROOPERS!!! Thanks @rvltagency for making it happen. And an extra big thanks to the Scandinavian crew upfront – I didn’t have time to catch up with you all, but you know who you are, and I know who you are 👊
Btw – I’ve been reading about the disastrous logistics surrounding the event. I even received messages from people who missed my set because they were stuck in line or couldn’t find parking. I’m truly sorry about that. It sucks.

Wasn’t happy with the colors in my studio, the acoustics needed some optimization, and it was time for The Big Unplug Everything And Plug It Back Again, so this winter/spring has been a big renovation project for me. Painted the ceiling, built a couple of new ceiling cloud absorbents, had the elements in my main monitors replaced, expanded my audio interface, and did some general cosmetic changes. Extremely happy with the result. Now back to making music!

A peak into the making of The Sea of Darkness.
Using old hardware samplers consumes a lot of time and patience, but I think the lo-fi crunchiness is worth it. The W30 makes everything sound so OBSCURE, like something dug out from a hidden cache in the woods, or found inside a rusty metal box in an abandoned mental asylum.
