I started writing this caption about my work and what I do and it started sounding like a job application (which would’ve definitely landed me the job tho tbqh), but why? You got two perceiving eyes and possibly a third one w i d e open; you clocked that I'm a portrait + commercial photographer making visual stories that highlight your brand/personality either for an ad campaign or a portfolio update. It's obvious that I like to combine fictional and documentary elements and stretch those creative directing muscles while blurring the line between creation + the creation itself. I don't need to tell you that amiright or amiright.
If you're new here (hi!) or looking to work together, I will say that I have been saying for years that I'm trying to quit the Myers-Briggs personality test but that's basically a lie at this point. I also love keeping the creative process as collaborative as possible--we'll have never-shallow conversations on set that help engage + inspire our work.
Most importantly, I love hearing *your* stories! It's so motivating + encouraging to constantly be around such ambitious, creative people. Hearing about your own journey not only helps tailor our work together more closely to who you are and what you have to say, but it also makes this creative living feel less solitary. It's more like a group hike with many stops along the way. So let's walk, homies.

I had a modeling agent from a recent shoot with a recently-signed model ask me if the model’s performance was her own or if I did a lot of directing because she was so impressed, but I told the agent that it was all collaborative. From having a shoot plan we can both commit to, and then having a model who’s willing to try things and take direction, we create images that are in the spirit of both parties, not dominated by either. I’d like to think I have a distinct style and approach, but the bulk of that is to let the talent show me how they’ve interpreted the vision and direction for the shoot. A model like Michelle, pictured above is a perfect example of that.
She internalized the direction from the mood board and brought her own touch to the performance, accentuated by the beauty and styling team we had. Thanks for this one everyone, and looking forward to some fun shoots this summer too!

@natalynlind was in nyc for a hot minute, and not just to convert me into a horror-movie fan (not gonna happen) and load me up with scary movie recommendations (I’ll def watch though), but ostensibly to attend the premiere of @duttonranch , the new sequel to the iconic yellowstone. we’re all very excited and some of us even emotional to see her on the screen for this (I’m not going to say who got emotional, or when or how, but check the photos if u want), and the energy was off the charts. this is the type of spring renaissance we’re looking for, so thank u natalie for bringing it, for you athlete-like training and dedication to your craft and to speedrunning premiere events across the country, and thank u for having me.
my 2nd 29th birthday went crazy this year. I don’t usually throw a birthday party, but when I do, the minds of fish remain unknowable. at the behest of marcos who has continued to urge me to throw a “kegger”, a “rager”, “the party of this generation’s decade”, I did this but the stars aligned. I had attempted to book a studio in Brooklyn, for a couple of photo sessions the previous week, but a miscommunication with scheduling got it moved to my birthday week, and so it was kismet, when in rome, etc. sixtine said I needed to stop being a baby and complaining about being surrounded by people who loved me, so we made it happen. thank u all who came, who wished me a happy birthday, and I also appreciate and missed those who couldn’t come. life truly is a box of packing peanuts and you have to riffle through to find the good stuff, but it’s really not that hard to do so. I might have to make a separate posts for the drunken texts everyone left on my typewriter. u all mean so much to me (barf). (that’s as sentimental as ur going to catch me.) and now, without batting an average, I bid u ado—until next year.
we talked about art and commerce and the business and capitalism of it all (gross) but art+commerce rolls of the tongue because when have they been separate.

sonali’s opening night: she said she’d been listening to james bond soundtracks, so she was a bond girl for the session. easy with these dresses and this beauty team (hate to say it). suddenly, sona brandished a metaphysical weapon: her mind. she mind-controlled everyone but me into uber eats ordering several coffees for her—-a true bond girl. I was impressed but I didn’t show it. and even more suddenly—-expeditiously, possibly—-I found myself editing photos she mind-controlled me into editing (read: she selected them on the online gallery I shared with her). at this point, the movie’s definitely over and the stunning @vildanekamerolli dresses have been returned, tragically.
