We were honored to collaborate with the @marcantoinebarrois team on a unique Tree Stump Coffee Table for their new flagship boutique at 120 Wooster Street in SOHO, NYC. This piece has a story rooted in the Catskill Mountains, crafted from an approximately 65-year-old locally sourced Hemlock tree stump—yes, we counted the rings! Its original green moss and lichens were intentionally preserved for a touch of natural beauty.
Our team member, Rockie Hunter, expertly refined the top surface, flattening it with a custom router setup, and adding a carved notch for book display. The final sanding and sealing completed a process that was quite pleasant, visually and aromatically.
Another segment of the tree was used to produce a wood block print, which was custom framed with reclaimed heart pine from the Domino Sugar Factory. Included with the other artworks in the space, the print connects visually to the coffee table's origin.
The boutique is stunning and showcases their lovely fragrances, candles, and couture clothing in a truly artistic setting. In your next venture to SOHO, be sure to stop by and connect with this extraordinary space.

We created this high-gloss, polished polyurethane finish by wet sanding our way up from 800 grit sand paper, to 1000, 2000, 3000 and eventually 4000 grit, topping it off with polarshine polishing compound to give it a mirror-like finish.
