Here’s a sample of “Next Please” from our April 25 show at Galactic Panther. Everyone absolutely killed it. Huge thanks to Dewey for the source video!

Just for fun, let’s see how long Jimmy John’s keeps the same Drive flyers from April 25 hanging on the community board outside the bathrooms on John Carlyle Rd I stopped in last Saturday and the flyers were STILL there. Even more surprising, one of them was gone, which means somebody liked it enough to take one home for themselves. But what did they do with it? Did it end up in a scrapbook? Become emergency bathroom reading material? Or maybe, just maybe, the letters were cut out and turned into a ransom note. The next time I swing by Jimmy John’s, I’ll report back with another update. Personally, I’m rooting for these flyers to make it to the six month mark. Let’s see how long they survive.

Northern Virginia friends! We’re thrilled to be returning to the No 9 Lounge at the Evening Star Cafe on May 29. Music starts around 8 PM. Frequent Sable Drive collaborator Theresa will kick off the night with her new project. They couldn’t decide on a name in time, so naturally they went with Indecision Machine. Peter, Trey, and Phil, who have all played with Sable Drive in the past, will also be joining Theresa’s band for the evening. Hope to see some familiar faces there!

Hey friends! We’re really excited to be part of this show and hoping some of our DC and Maryland friends come out! We’re sharing the bill with an awesome touring band headlining the night plus a killer local band in the middle slot. Tracy will be joining us for her second show on violin, and Theresa is bringing back the Bell Witch! Sable Drive is opening the night and DJ Doomsday will glue it all togethet

Last night I took my boys to a show. We came to see one band, but they got moved to the end of the night and, being 8 and 11, my kids only have so much patience for sitting around in a venue. Still, we stayed through two sets before I my wife took them home and I came back for the rest of the night. The acts we sat through were two Americana acts doing heartfelt songs about life on the road and missing home. Not really our thing, but we gave them our attention and respect. Funny thing is, neither of those acts stayed for the rest of the show to support anyone else. One of them smirked at me on the way out and said, “Kids, huh?” like my boys were somehow the problem for not connecting with their self important campfire poetry. That’s the part I never understand about scenes like this. The people preaching community and authenticity are often the first ones out the door. One of them followed my project on Instagram and told me to hit him up next time they come through town so we could do a show . Don’t bother. I threw the sticker he handed me straight in the trash and removed him as a follower. What really got me was my boys saw right through it too. They could feel the fake warmth coming from the front of the room. One song was about how much the guy missed his dog while touring. Now the boys and I are joking around writing a song about that dog getting run over by a pickup truck flying an American flag.

I stepped into Oshaughnessy’s last night before headed home and caught a small part of the Moondaddies set. I didn’t say a word. I was just waiting by the bar and Jimmy was nice enough to fix me my favorite drink. What a place thanks. @jimmymadden15 !
