✨ Introducing our Artist in Residence (April – June 2026) ✨
We’re excited to welcome Cai Tuomivaara (she/they) as our upcoming Artist in Residence at East London Printmakers 🖤
Cai is a researcher-artist who moves between the tactile and the digital through a wide range of trans-disciplinary visual and experiential experiments. Their research focuses on fugitive pedagogy centred around racialised bodies and nonhuman entities.
Their most recent work is on both cellulose- and mycelium-based biomaterial inventions, led by craft experiments, artistic practices, and industrialised applications. This work serves as research pushing on theories of posthuman knowing.
They also have 10+ years of experience in brand communication and product design strategy. The main area of expertise is bringing emerging technologies to market for new energy vehicles, green transportation, and regenerative materials.
SinceSince 2019, they have been lecturing various postgraduate design courses at prestigious academic institutions between London and Cambridge.
We’re really looking forward to having Cai in the studio and to seeing how their research-led, material-driven practice unfolds within our printmaking community. ✨
