As of today, I can officially share that ticket sales from our 2025 Cannonball Festival show paid for my top surgery💥❤️🔥💥❤️🔥💥❤️🔥💥❤️🔥💥❤️🔥💥❤️🔥💥❤️🔥💥❤️🔥💥❤️🔥💥❤️🔥💥❤️🔥💥❤️🔥💥❤️🔥💥💥💥❤️🔥💥❤️🔥💥❤️🔥💥❤️🔥💥❤️🔥💥❤️🔥
On top of that, through Philly Dance Share, we raised additional money for my recovery!! Incredible to feel so appreciated continuously by the organizers who put endless work into the functions of our collective!!
Without the dedication of my lovely dancer: who volunteered to rehearse for months, the community support: we sold out both shows, and love I have received, NONE of this would’ve been possible.
In five days, I will be four months post op. Choosing to get surgery was such a big step for me towards feeling more like myself. Growing up, I desperately desired to be seen as me and not the person I pretended to be so I didn’t feel othered. Being me can be so scary, but I find so much authenticity in myself and my choices the more I’ve chosen the vulnerable route.
So again, huge thanks to all those who made my year, and especially my recovery, go so smoothly.
To Sean for being a fantastic loving partner, bestie, and caretaker. To Nella and Claire for creating work with me. To Meg, Kai, Hannah, Lewie, Hank, Lydia, Journee, Corie, Anna, and Sydney for performing and rehearsing. To Philly Dance Share for fundraising money for recovery. To every person who attended our shows and bought tickets. To those who visited me when I was house bound post op, including my incredible sister who came from DC to visit, I love you. To every trans person who has inspired me to be me!!! My parents who were helped me through every step of the process, especially when dealing with insurance. And especially to my cat Marnie for reminding me why I’m alive everyday. To every single one of you who has ever supported me I love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!! #philly
