We would really like to thank everyone who had been apart of this weekend, the attendees, the artists, the venues and everyone who helped out throughout the way. We were gifted by an amazing opener to the weekend by @_______________________key then followed through by an awesome set by @wdshawty . Afterwards @amuwa_mwah came through with a mind bending performance then @first_name__lastname added the sprinkles on top as the sun falling… After an afternoon in the ever setting sun, the next move was made through to the shopfront of @jackjack__store . A glitchy opener by @lewisenglefield then followed through by a heartwarming performance through @harrisonrae_ - with a guest appearance by @yungscrawny devastating us out of know where. @romy_e4 stopped the room with a hypnotic swirling sound, whilst @banjoulysses brought the room back to its core. @first_name__lastname shattered all expectations and then @ooze captured and tied up the weekend of the final selfness show. Big thank you to @hb_sound_lighting for providing all the sound and lights over the weekend. and another big thanks to @skkkrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr for keeping the crowds well nourished. This is our last event for a lil while, and we’re really happy with everything we’ve tried to provide to the city of Mulubinba/Newcastle. Hiatus inbound 🤞

For the next mix we have close friend of the label, @white.flufffff an operator out of Meanjin/ Brisbane who joins the series for an hour and a half of mind trip. White fluff has had a super productive year with the Bandcamp self release of “No Repto”, a well received 6 track EP spanning glitchy psy trance to experimental half time. For White Fluff, the experiences had at Psy Trance parties as a teenager continue to inspire his approach to contemporary trance productions and Dj sets. After coming back from a recent debut set in Eora/ Sydney for Spectre. White Fluff is looking to further experiment with sound design and engage different tempos as he crafts his personal sound. Link to the mix available in our linktree!

Next up on the mix series is Mulubinba-based @sleepexchange (Nic Eldred), a local creative who embraces the roles of both selector and producer. He practises with an intricately rhythmic style that weaves through rich, textural soundscapes. sleep exchange effortlessly blends low rollers with elements of dub, IDM, halfstep, and the subtly infused psychedelic accents of d&b. sleep exchange has a series of upcoming releases planned in collaboration with DMO, General Merchant and Unison, including a debut EP ‘Flux Capacitor’ with Backpocket Slammers, which is slated for release later in the year. In addition to these musical pursuits, sleep exchange curates the intimate events and a mix series @_geotherapy , providing a modest stage for spotlighting distinctive frequencies within local creative communities. The events focus on hardware and hybrid performances, serving as an avenue for unconventional sonic explorations. Link to the mix in our bio 🌀

@fiedinee The latest instalment in our Soundcloud series is a super fun mix from Eora based DJ, FineDining. She has recently come off the back of supporting Alpha Tracks for his Australian debut tour, a show of her growing reputation locally. Through work in the journalism field, FineDining had been exposed to the faster and harder styles of electronic music. These experiences in Denmark and Albania had the most significant impact on her, becoming dominant sources of musical inspiration and taste. Since moving back to Australia, she has began working with FBI radio and continuing as a presenter. She has been standing in as host on Citrus and engaging as part of the Dance Class rotation. These opportunities have been valuable, enabling her to delve into more stripped backed sounds and experiment with new depths. Be sure to look out for FineDining gigs coming up in the future!

Thank you to everyone for your patience with our previous cancellation. We are super happy with our make up event on Saturday and hope you all enjoyed Buggi <33 We were gifted amazing sets by @sleepexchange , @semuelspa , @dgradeknockoff and @pd_sky which offered our home city something truly special. @jun__wan and @lovedav.id blew our brains with an encapsulating stage design and visual show that expertly matched the sets, a big thanks to these two for their trust and hard work! A further thanks to Harry, Dakota, Mio, Mia, Benji and our BBQ queens Eve and Bella for volunteering at the event. Without this help the party would not have felt so safe and welcoming. The charity snags also helped keep tummy`s full with all sales going to the Pay the Rent Initiative. These efforts are greatly appreciated! Further thanks to @hb_sound_lighting for providing the sound system. See you all soon!! Lewis and Sam xx

We are delighted to share our first live hardware set for the series! @efilemusic is a close friend of the collective who has shared original live sets at our first open air events in Mulubinba/Newcastle aswell as his well received "Cycles" on our premiere compilation SELFNESS: VOL001. As one of our favourite artists he has developed a distinct sound signature over recent years which is an indication of a lot of hard work and dedication. The live set incorporates an obsession with clean sound design and enjoyment of interlinked music genres. The set explores the use of break beats, melodic synth work and live vocals to offer alternative enjoyment of his understanding of trance music. E-FILE co runs the Eora/Sydney @impetus.tec label with Cobber. Having recently released their debut VA “Limbic Sequence”, the crew are looking to build on this debut to bring more fast gritty grooves to our local music scene. The 19th of May presents a chance to catch an all originals E-FILE live set at the launch of “Bounce” from “THE LAND OF RAH” presented by Lovejoy at Shades Bar. E-FILE will feature on this line up alongside talented Eora based artist gi. Thanks to Mike Blyth/ @hasvat_informant for the master! E-FILE recorded the live set on camera too! Have a look in our linktree to find the YouTube link to the video! Physical copies of the live set may be on the way… watch this space...

@fletcher.dobsonharper FDH has been super busy recently with the growth and development of platform, party and interview series @turning.tables_ . The Co Host and Co Founder has helped to cement the group as a mainstay in the Ngunnawal/Canberra electronic music landscape. Although residing in Naarm/Melbourne the artist has committed to the passion project with regular commutes to facilitate special events and mini festivals such as their Obelisk event in early 2022. FDH is an accomplished mixer and developing producer with upcoming releases planned for later this year. The following mix demonstrates the range of ability and sensitivity FDH possesses for various electronic genres. He is able to manipulate the energy of each track with a delicacy that is required when dealing with a multitude of contrasting musical tastes. This live recording from their Turning Tables event inviting Mabel and Suki gives an insight into the personal curation and sonic goals of the collective. @fletcher.dobsonharper @turning.tables_ Enjoy the set!

Introducing the 28th mix of the series from GREER @vibemastersupreme creator and curator of Meanjin/Brisbane project “take care” @take___________care . The “take care” series presents a beautiful space for sharing and reflection. GREER`s recent curation on the platform compiles an oeuvre of talented artists, producing pieces that engage our sentience. Alongside this project, GREER coproduces the weekly Synethesia radio show on 4zzzradio. As an artist GREER has featured at a plethora of events in their local Meanjin scene especially Bouquet, Eject bne, Cyber aswell as interstate performances for Decay (Eora) and Fluxx (Naarm) as their teamed up alias of ‘Theyphex Twins’. The following mix indicates Greer`s ability to unite alternative ambient sounds with textured breaks and evolving drum rhythms. Producing a wondersome experience for the ears and mind. Be sure to keep up with GREER`s movements locally or interstate to catch the development of an inspiring and multifaceted artist!
