First V neck dress I’ve made with French darts & front & back darts using the methods from course! Added slit purriod, bias binding on edges bc I thought it’d look cute.

Ahead of PUPURITIA opening at Objectspace on 4 April, exhibiting artist Shiloh Sagapolu’s Lady Toa t-shirts are being reissued for a limited run.

Shiloh created Lady Toa as an iconic symbol for siren culture, a subculture where crews battle custom-built sound systems, utilising sirens from loudspeakers.
“Traditionally, siren crew merchandise features a lot of text, often placed on the back of shirts. ‘Toa’ references the favoured brand of sirens and also means warrior in Samoan. I played on ‘siren’ having two meanings – also referring to alluring women in Greek mythology.”
Shiloh’s mahi will feature among 17 other textile makers in PUPURITIA: Storytelling and Contemporary Textiles, curated by Melanie Tangaere Baldwin, 5 April – 1 June in Tāmaki Makaurau.
