I am really excited to announce Thelmarama in residence at the Crocker Art Museum in 2026. Thelmarama Movie Club is a project created by @jordmata and I. This idea came from wanting to host film screenings that involved our tabby, Thelma. Thelma is a cinephile and she makes the final choice for each screening.
During the Crocker Art Museum Cinema Club residency, Thelmarama will be hosting six individual screenings throughout the year and Thelma will be choosing films based on pieces in the Crocker’s permanent collection.
We hope you can join us for our first screening on Saturday, January 17th 2026. We are incredibly grateful for this opportunity from our favorite museum in our favorite town. Special thanks to Lily and the education team at the Crocker. Thank you to the folks who have shown up and supported us the last couple years. See ya there!

Tonight was our third screening with the @crockerart cinema club residency and the theme was ritual and repetition. We talked about some pieces in the Crocker’s permanent collection and three films that connect to that theme. We’re so grateful to have worked with @taohuatea for a pre-screening tea ceremony. Thelma had her own tea ceremony with Olive and Ziru where she revealed her choice of All That Jazz 🎶 Thanks again for everyone who took the time to help and come out!
Join Thelmarama for our third screening with the Crocker Cinema Club on Thursday May 7 at 6 PM. For this screening we are exploring themes of ritual and repetition within the Crocker Art Museum’s collection @crockerart
Thelma’s choices are All That Jazz (1979) dir. by Bob Fosse, Perfect Days (2023) dir. by Wim Wenders and Match Factory Girl (1990) dir. by Aki Kaurrismäki. And as always, Thelma picks one (but we encourage you to watch the other choices!)
Please come at 6 PM to enjoy a pre-screening tea ceremony presented by Taohua Tea @taohuatea 🍵 Ziru @ziru.mo and Olive @ollolsen of Taohua will be hosting a gongfu (工夫茶) tea ceremony, which is a traditional and ritualistic way to serve tea in East Asia.
Tickets are available at the Crocker or online on the Crocker Art Museum’s website 🎟️
