A politics of principle – of honesty, integrity, inclusivity, solidarity, and ultimately of humanity. A compass that has always guided me, and a promise I made to myself of principles I would never abandon. A politics of unapologetic, radical racial justice and inclusion. Nothing about us, without us. ❀️

πŸ‡΅πŸ‡Έ Solidarity with Palestine, now and forever. TW: genocide, killings, dehumanisation, violence As a settler-colonial, apartheid, regime wages a genocide of Palestinians, the Global North silently enables it. Will Gazans wake up to another tomorrow or be forced to the remnants of history? From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free. πŸ‡΅πŸ‡Έβ€οΈ #FreePalestine

🌻 Two days ago, I was re-elected Executive Member of @FYEG . Looking back on my journey the past year, one thing is certain: the systems in place work to oppress us - the racialised, the minoritised, the oppressed. We need real change. A future of inclusion, of diversity, of solidarity, and of hope is only possible if we strive for it together. In this past year, I have learnt so much from so many people. From the bravest and strongest individuals showing me constantly that this is a revolution of the millions. Reminding me that only we can change us. Thus, πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ I am thankful to our Member Organisation, the @greenyouthofukraine , for teaching me every day what strength and courage truly mean. They have taught me what it means to persevere against Russian imperialism. There is no Europe without a free Ukraine by our side. ✊ I am thankful to the Racial Justice Task Force, to young greens of colour, and to @nefertgrace_ , for reminding me constantly that in a system inherently racist, there is nothing about us, without us. They have taught me to keep fighting for real inclusion, a future for all, in Europe and the Global South. There is no justice without racial justice. πŸ’š I am thankful to this Federation and the many young greens I love with all my heart, for teaching me what it means to believe and for reminding me that I am not doing this alone. 🌱 And I am thankful to @ozgevon , for cultivating this seed of hope, strength, perseverance, and determination in me. From the moment we met in 2021, she has continued to inspire me as a strong, brave, and determined woman of colour breaking down barriers and defying odds in European politics. I stand here today because of her belief in me and her support throughout my journey. I am sad to say goodbye to her as our Secretary-General, but I know wherever she goes next, she will continue to impact the lives of many. I look forward to this new mandate to keep fighting for a future for all, platforming the voices of our Ukrainian friends, of people of colour, of young greens everywhere. I look forward to continue believing, hoping, and persevering. To continue getting shit done, together. Not me, us. Thank you. ❀️

Tax the rich. Climate justice is social justice. We cannot address one without the other. But we cannot address either without addressing the biggest contributor to both, the rich.

Hear from the amazing @srishagon as we joined the closing conference for the @european_youth_eu and used the opportunity to talk about funding for small organisations πŸ’Ά #eyy2022

"Drie jaar geleden sprak ik geen Nederlands, en nu neem ik afscheid als internationaal secretaris van de beste politieke jongerenorganisatie in Nederland." Today marks the end of my term as the last International Secretary of @DWARS . Despite all the challenges of the past year, I truly beam with pride for everything we've accomplished, from putting international issues to the forefront, to expanding DWARS to even more non-Dutch youth, to spotlighting issues close to my heart - getting DWARS and FYEG to take strong comprehensive stances on matters like the Uyghur genocide and Taiwanese sovereignty, to EU-ASEAN relations. To my friends, from Bestuur Scholten, I love you. @hiskescholtens you helped me get through one of the toughest years of my life mentally, @bosmanjens you inspired me to vocalise my voice, @marcusoakwood you helped me feel safe when this year was at its heaviest, @_kiete_ you were there for me every time I needed it, @lauraadriaansen you taught me the definition of strength. It’s been an unbelievable journey, one I’m happy was with you. The fight is not over. Today also marks the end of Pride month, and of Keti Koti. Growing up forced me to accept my status as second-class in my own country, acknowledging an entrenched system of institutionalised racism left behind by the 'legacy' of colonialism and sustained by a toxic ideology of Malay supremacy, conservatism and capitalism. The era of colonialism has not ended, not only until the Netherlands and other colonial empires officially apologise, but until reparations are instituted to correct the still ongoing consequences of past injustices. The past year has taught me that people like me can have a voice, that we can make a difference. And with the end of a chapter, a new one begins. In May I had the honour of being elected to the Executive Committee of @FYEG with the amazing @bi_scoop , @seanpwcurrie , @mariestadtler , @christinaakessler , @antgargon96 , and @lonekristiansen . I look forward to continuing this fight together, until youth of colour, queer youth, all marginalised youth, will never have to feel alone. You matter, we matter. For you, for us, for DWARS and FYEG, Thank you.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine is an attack on all of democracy. Now more than ever do we have to celebrate our democracy. Now more than ever do we have to exercise our rights and freedoms to their fullest extent. When an authoritarian regime threatens not just the sovereignty of one land, but the democracies of the world - we must stand together and stand strong, not give in to fear. Last week I presented DWARS' manifesto on Ukraine to our MP for foreign affairs. Over the past week I helped organise our campaign for energy independence for over 25 municipalities in the North-Holland region. This week we spent hours coordinating, flyering and talking to the people of Amsterdam, convincing them to vote for the party I believe in. Today I voted for the first time in my life, even if only for the city district. All of us have to do all we can to stand up for and cherish our democracy and our rights in the face of autocracy. The right to sovereignty, to democracy, to human dignity, of every single Ukrainian person - and of those we have not yet forgotten, the Afghans, the Syrians, the Palestinians and all peoples oppressed under tyranny - is our duty to uphold. Stand with me, stand together. Solidarity, not fear. πŸ’™πŸ’› If you haven't voted yet, you still have til 21.00! Our democracy is only strong insofar we are. πŸ—³οΈ

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡³ As #COP26 draws to a close, the Glasgow Climate Pact makes it clear that our world leaders are failing us. That we will not be doing enough to limit temperature rise to 1.5C. That we will not be doing enough for climate mitigation, climate adaptation and climate financing. That we will not be doing enough to prioritise climate justice. That we will not be doing enough. ✊ Enough is enough. We need to demand international climate action now. We need to push our representatives to wake the fuck up and let them know that we can't just be climate neutral, but that we must be climate positive. We need to lift up and defend the marginalised and vulnerable in the fight for a just transition. We need to fight for a climate pact where climate justice and solidarity is always at the forefront, nationally and internationally. 🌍 My journey to the COP the past three months made realise now more than ever that we have to fight for a better world, because a better world is possible. At the EIL in Milan in September, at the EYE in Strasbourg in October, and at the COP in Glasgow in December - I've talked to youth leaders, world leaders, I've marched, I've cried, I've fought. 🌱 Just a year ago, I never imagined myself in the shoes of international secretary of DWARS. But since being elected, I've not only had the honour to push for the representation and vocalisation of DWARS on an international front, but to also fight for climate solidarity and climate justice with my fellow greens every step of the way. πŸ™Œ Being at the forefront, marching hand in hand with fellow leaders, once felt unimaginable. Today, it feels like our last chance to make things right. We are the forefront. And we need to fight for the future we have a right to, together. I can't do this alone, fight with me.

1/3 (Bahasa Melayu dalam komen - semua pautan di bio / all links in bio) TW: Sensitive news and images, death, racial discrimination It's disappointing and disheartening watching my country fall apart. It has been 517 days since the PN government was formed, but they have failed the people of Malaysia since day 1. Since then, they have done nothing to prevent our health and economic crisis, but their incompetency, wilful neglect and treachery is leading us to a political and constitutional crisis - to a failed state. The blood of thousands of Malaysians are on the hands Prime Minister Mahiaddin Yasin and his inept cabinet. It is inaccurate to say they have lost all credibility and legitimacy when they never had any to begin with. A government founded on treachery shall end on treachery. #kerajaangagal #kerajaanderhaka #lawan #keluardanlawan

2/3 (Bahasa Melayu dalam komen - semua pautan di bio / all links in bio) TW: Sensitive news and images, death, racial discrimination And yet, it is the people that suffer. But the flames of the Malaysian spirit live on. I have never seen solidarity and mobilisation of the Malaysian people to this degree since the #Bersih movement. In moments like these, I can never be prouder to say I am Malaysian. The PN government is doing everything they can to silence us. The right to demonstrate, to free speech and press, to personal liberty - these are our fundamental rights. Their attempts to intimidate journalists, activists, doctors - Malaysians - will not stop us. Today and every day We are Sarah Irdina We are Heidy Quah We are Boo Su-Lyn We are Farhan Haziq We are the detained activists, organisers and protestors We are the contract doctors We are the mistreated refugees We are Malaysian. #kerajaangagal #kerajaanderhaka #lawan #keluardanlawan

3/3 (Bahasa Melayu dalam komen - semua pautan di bio / all links in bio) If you can, #lawan today at Dataran Merdeka at 11 am, but take all precautions necessary to stay safe (Click the link in my bio for the protest guide). Unfortunately, I cannot be there, but I will do everything I can to help support my fellow Malaysians. I am donating RM1,000 for food and financial aid to those in need, and another RM1,000 to Sekretariat Solidariti Rakyat for supplies for the #lawan protestors. Can't attend? Vocalise online and donate! Send me proof of donations and I'll match yours! The Malaysian people - we - must #lawan this treasonous government. Now, more than ever, is the time for revolution - to fight for our rights and stand up for one another. This is my Malaysia. We will not be silenced. We will #lawan for our doctors, activists and journalists, for our people, for our rights. #kerajaangagal #kerajaanderhaka #lawan #keluardanlawan
