I was pleasantly surprised how fun and easy to pick up this game was!
In this game, the starting player starts with their four active cards from the initial setup in the back of the convoy, with four of the other players cards in the front.
Each turn you are doing three actions chosing from four options.
You can either add a car to the front of the convoy, drive meaning move a card forward or backward one space, draw a card from the top of the draw pile to your hand while they last, or use a power from one of your active cards.
That last option is where all the fun comes from because all the cards have unique effects.
Whether you are moving cars to the front, swapping cars, sniping cars or many other things, actions keep mixing up the game as you go.
At the end of each turn, the car in the back of the convoy is destroyed by the DUST STORM and discarded into the Scrap Heap pile. This is all the part of the strategy with some of the card abilities to get rid of the other player’s cars.
A majority of my Button Shy experience is with solo games so this was a nice treat. It is very well put together from the art to the various abilities. As long as you can handle some take that, I would give this a try!
The first player to not have any cars left in the convoy loses.
The player order seems to be very well accounted for by having the first player be at the back of the convoy.
I played with my 11-year-old son who caught on pretty quickly as well. I was actually surprised when he started referring to only having passive abilities at one point. Apparently a term he picked up from video games. He isn’t my main board gaming kid as his next brother up is the one that’s more interested in games usually. We played on a table at Dunkin Donuts and each won a game.
