Today was a bittersweet day for the @buffalostate Communication Department as Professor @knowleme attended her last faculty meeting prior to retirement on Sept. 1! An accomplished and award-winning filmmaker, Meg joined our Media Production faculty in fall 2006 and has led important curriculum revisions to modernize the Media Production major. She has mentored hundreds of students and is always there to lend them a helping hand. A co-founder of Buffalo State’s “Beyond Boundaries” film series, Meg serves as secretary at Buffalo’s @squeakybuffalo and on many committees at Buffalo State. Meg: thanks for your outstanding service to our students, department, and Buffalo State - we will miss you! Best wishes for many happy years in retirement!
We’re excited to announce that we are expanding into a new space on the third floor of the Tri-Main Center — just down the hall from our current home! Squeaky Wheel will now include an additional 3000 sq ft of space (totaling 5800 sq ft) that will include a larger media classroom, equipment library, and gallery alongside several flexible spaces for education and media production, as well as upgraded equipment for exhibitions, screenings, and workshops.
-- We will be closed from May 3-18, except for previously scheduled youth workshops and equipment rentals.
-- We will reopen on May 19, with expanded hours until 8pm on Wednesday evenings.
-- Over the summer, we will introduce new resources including a private video editing suite.
Construction and upgrades of Squeaky Wheel’s new space is made possible by the Erie County Cultural Capital Grant Program and the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature. Thank you!! @eriecountyny@nyscouncilonthearts
