nyc’s latest and greatest blizzard had begun so i’m just going to leave this @inkaterracaboblanco moodboard here for us. just a week ago i was shaking the sand out of my shoes and putting a bathing suit on first thing every morning. it was heaven.
this part of northern peru’s coast has been so ready for a hotel like inkaterra’s to show off its SHOWSTOPPING natural beauty. even just a few days here of staring at the ocean and napping in the sun and being surprised by wildlife was so deeply pleasurable. i’m excited to watch more people add this part of the country to their itinerary—and not just the backpackers or the surfers who have been in on it for a while. there’s plenty of room in peru for all of us travelers, if we could all spread out a little. cabo blanco is proof of what you’ll find if you do. 💙

i’ve passed through tijuana many times, but finally took a moment to stop and smell the birria 😮💨
mil gracias to locals @claudetteazepeda and @clubtengohambre (and @julietavenegasp in my headphones) for showing me the soul of this border town and the sizzling, lime-drenched, stick-to-your-ribs food that fuels it. to my fellow californians: consider this your annual reminder to spend some time on the other side. it’s remarkably easy to walk or drive across, and it’s a privilege none of us should take for granted.
story forthcoming but until then, AMA anytime in the comments (or tell me your favorite things about TJ !!!)
The quick, grabbable nature of a sandwich is a match made in heaven for a city that never sleeps, a population that is always on the go, a place where you're always five minutes late but so is everyone else—but you still expect the very best from every meal, which is why @spurrelly hit the streets of NYC to show you the cream of the crop from @eatnishaan to @sunny_annies .

AUSTRALIA 🇦🇺
Lots of friendly Aussies tried to help with this one, and now I know a million and a half cute cafes in Williamsburg. But I was set on finding a restaurant and @moniquekawecki came through with @oldmatespub 🫶🏼
This is a full on pub experience, meaning hearty comfort food, beer made on-site, a pool table, games on, chatty bartenders and friendly waitstaff, plus there’s a dancefloor downstairs. On Sundays they do a roast! Officially adding this to my FiDi rotation for happy hours near the office, though the Sunday vibes were pretty impeccable.
Must-orders:
-Meat pie made on-site was the absolute highlight
-I liked their own beer even better than Cooper’s, sorry!
-The wedges with chicken salt 🫠
-Chicken parm, Victoria style
Also really liked the roast and the burger, but when I come back I know it’s for a steamy meat pie.
Australia was a good challenge because like, what makes Australian food distinct from Californian food or British food? (Please, do tell me.) Finding these dishes felt like we did it though, and the bonus is hearing lots of charming Aussie accents. Also can we get three cheers to mom and sister guest starring?!
last august i went to GREENLAND and you can read about it in the latest issue of @cntraveler 🏔️ it’s a fascinating time to travel to this gigantic island from a geopolitical perspective, but what struck me was how much time i spent alone, able to forget about the mind boggling chaos of being alive right now. if you’re sick of people, of chatter, of news cycles, the least densely populated “country” on the planet might be the place for you (it’s still part of Denmark’s kingdom but functions as an autonomous country). and when i did spend time with people, learning how to enjoy local specialties like dried fish and blubber or perusing danish uranium glass at a collectors shop in the actual middle of nowhere, everyone had something to say that actually widened my perspective on things.
also, greenland dogs? they’re everywhere.
NYC went hard for winter this year. honestly, was pretty into it!
but now’s it’s 76 degrees out and i can’t wait to use this stored up energy to have the best spring and summer and autumn until i collapse out of joy and need to hibernate again next winter, who’s with me
really good trips feel impossible to recreate. hot take: try anyway!
my mom and i returned to the dude ranch we spent christmases at when i was a kid—25 years later. the same two families are still running things; the same donkey, tony, is still everyone’s favorite face in the sea of the 100 horses they keep, even though he’s gone from dark grey to all over white. there is still nothing like the feeling of loping through dry riverbeds, or watching all of the horses running wild as they get turned out at dusk. event though my dad has been gone for over 10 years, they still have his bar tag from the last time we went because it’s that kind of place.
i know it’s a fool’s errand to expect things to stay just as you left them, but once in a while, the impossible happens. ily @circlezrancharizona
#5 ARGENTINA: Continuing to try food from every country in NYC, this time at @saborargentinonyc with @ronensuarc 🇦🇷 I can still taste that skirt steak 🤤
It was fun to hit the first South American country in the alphabet (and the first country I’ve actually been to so I could find my way around the menu). Plus the passion that Ronen brought to reminding us all of Argentina’s culinary and soccer prowess= unmatched. Full-size Messi cutout blocking the kitchen? Even better.
If you know Agentinean food then you won’t be surprised to see a lot of meat and cheese. Our menu highlights:
1. the sizzling entraña steak cooked to perfection and topped with flaky salt and herby chimichurri
2. the carne and chorizo empanadas
3. the milanese napolitana (beef) smothered in sauce and cheese
Plus Ronen shared a few more spots for Argentinian food in BK and Queens for when you want to make a habit of it.
Apologies (or you’re welcome) for the Spanglish, though I am sorry IG captions couldn’t keep up and that our sound got wonky—but we had a good time and you will too! Go eat some steak!
it’s bragging hour over here! bc my husband is gorgeous and our honeymoon was blissful and if you want to copy and paste our korea itinerary for your own trip, you can, courtesy of the march issue of @cntraveler !!!
honeymoons can look a lot of ways, but we met traveling, and have done so many types of trips over the past 12 years together. it felt good to go soak up a new place and have our senses tickled to mark the married chapter of our story. we were never going to be the laying-on-a-beach couple, as much as i personally love a little playita. swipe for some highlights/inspo from jeju, busan, and seoul. and ama for your own planning in the comments! x
6 years ago we walked into city hall and got married 🕊️🤍 we didn’t do a big celebration until 5 years later but in addition to signing some govt forms we ate soup dumplings at @joesgingernyc and danced all night with friends so i’d say we were touching heaven that day
