I’ve hand-selected fabric for Spool of Thread like it’s my own sewing project for over 15 years, and our newest arrivals are no different. Our new fabric is for rebels, sewists and seamstresses with a goal to sew better clothes. They want to make clothing that extends beyond what they can find in shops. Get the perfect fit, colour and style by sewing your own. Find the newest arrivals on our website, spoolofthread.com.

It’s ok to iron your patterns! In fact, I do it all the time! Be sure to use a low heat setting so you do not scorch the paper and take time to ensure the edges of the pattern are laying flat as you iron. Prepping your pattern that’s been packed away, folded and wrinkled really helps keep everything flat, smooth and your cutting on point. The goal is to ensure the fabric piece you cut is as accurate as possible!

We’ve all dealt with dull scissors, which are such a pain to discover when you just want to cut your pattern as quickly as possible and START. SEWING. But, have you noticed other sewing tools can be dull too? Be sure to keep your pins, seam ripper and rotary cutter in good working order too, so that the next time you get to sew, your tools won’t slow you down. Gotta keep that seam ripper sharp! 😆

We just got in 3 new shades of our Rosalind Tencel Viscose Crepe, just in time for autumnal sewing. Rosalind is one of favourites, especially for fall and spring when the seasons are changing. It's available in 20 statement making shades, that covers all of the seasons. Plus, it's great for when the weather is changing, as this delightful fabric looks stunning and also keeps you warm in the cool weather and cool in the heat! How it works is it creates a pocket of air between the fabric and your skin that helps your body regulate! Pretty cool, hey? Want to know more? We have a blog post with more details and information about our 3 new shades on our website. Follow the link in bio to see that or search rosalind on our website to shop!

These 2 groups of fabric arrived at the same time and sparked a battle. Who does it better? Cat or dog fabric?
